I really would love to see more shorter hairstyles for Viera. I think the Y'shotla hair from Mogstation would look so good or something similar with the angled bob-style cut. I would also love for poor Hrothgar to not have to use a fantasia just to switch between the two hairs for their faces. Some very odd choices for sure. I love my Viera and would never change her but I do feel short-changed and don't consider that entitled. If we are never going to get the new hairstyles from patches, how about a race-specific equivalent since our heads are apparently so warped and strangely shaped to adapt them.

Same! My veena preset is still at the top of my list, and my favorite of all my characters. I actually consider myself a disgruntled viera player, rather than an au ra main. My veena is what I consider my main or 'canon' WoL (for story). I don't doubt I'll be her again for the EW release - though if they announce nothing for viera come may or for 6.0.. I don't know.. That's actually why I have used fantasias and went back to my veena in the past during story patches, or to catch up with story. I just wish I could play viera and not feel like I am getting less of the game.

I agree. It's not "entitled" to expect something that was promised. They said we would receive racially unique alternatives for modern aesthetics. At the time I was under the impression that we would have received them during ShB, but I guess I was assuming too much. I wouldn't mind seeing some new short styles for viera, I just want to see more variety!

I wouldn't be surprised. They're removing belts after all, instead of designing more gear for swappable belts in mind like in 1.0.
Seeing what they did to healers and tanks, they seem to like prioritizing taking things away when trying to 'fix' or 'balance' things.

At the same time they said they're removing belts, they said they decided against removing the second ring slot because people use it for glamour.

There's no way they'd get rid of hats with that logic.

Unless I missed something and viera in lore do have invulnerable skulls that never get cold, then I fail to see how it's counter intuitive that they would wear hats.

Never mind the fact that there is plenty of official artwork of viera from other FF games that clearly show them wearing hats. Viera wearing hats isn't some new concept that players just pulled out of the air. SE set this expectation from previous games, and by having the most famous and the first viera in this game have headgear on.

Even if you consider that commitment fulfilled by what some of the devs achieved in their spare time, the quoted answer still doesn't support the claim that they said they'd never get headgear.

"More compatible" is not the same as "fully compatible" and given that they specifically said it's about the head shapes, that sounds like a permanent issue - particularly that they said "Viera ears would've had to be moved down to where Miqo'te ears are" to make them work.

Given that they have not made (and are highly unlikely to make in future) this alteration to Viera design, the incompatibility is not resolved. Wherever the exact issue lies, in their current state they will not be getting hats.

They could add a few hairstyles, it wouldn't ruin them. As for headgear, at this point I'd take the clipping any day. It's not a huge issue to me.
