I have zero interest in farming them on the Southern Front. Yet in a couple runs, I had other players yelling at me for not having one on. This is the kind of situation wherein the person who is playing fine (I was doing all the mechanics and for many fights was one of the only players still standing at the end from my party) but I was the problem for not having an essence on... and so would have had a vote dismiss initiated. This is a problem with the content and with the players that would make the potential to vote dismiss abused, and with not being able to report someone who inititates this kind of vote dismissal, this would become a problem Square likely wants to avoid.

I'm amenable to concerns about not being able to use items you don't have as that's simply... normal, though I would like to say that farming them isn't that bad, at least the basic ones. Assuming your datacenter has any kind of capability to make an awakening fragment farming party, they come in pretty quick, were you so inclined. I understand actually getting a party for this in-game can be a struggle and not everyone wants to organize via discord (nevermind the rate at which you can get blue/green memories...)

That said I think it's worth noting that DR drops its own fragments, and if you aren't planning to use those in DR savage, well... they're not going to do anything anywhere else, so if nothing else you could start throwing some of those in your holster.

you can literally buy them off the market board for gil. if you don't want to get the items and actions that increase your contribution toward the clear, PotD is an option for you.

Vote Kicking for poor contribution is also not abuse. Difference in playstyle is a valid dismissal from a party.

9/10 if someone wanted to vote kick another for not using an essence, or the proper essence, they would need to kick the rest of their party. Also, vote kicking would be nonsensical in DR, in my opinion, since you cannot get a replacement. You'd rather just be missing a person, than have someone who does slightly less DPS because they are missing an essence?

I'd say if someone queued up as a specific role because they want to play that role, they should queue up for content that expects that job to fill that role.

It's not. But if people are complaining about no healers and no tanks, then here's a concept, QUEUE UP AS A HEALER OR TANK INSTEAD OF A DPS. Not directed at you in particular, just in general. If you want something done, then do it yourself.

it requires at least four of the eight present people to successfully kick someone, so probably not. additionally, most people are suggesting the ability to backfill alongside the ability to kick in DR.

also missing a damage essence is more akin to doing half the dps of a person using one. if you are not going to slot an essence or dps abilities you can at least slot support actions such as Arise, Cure 4, Bravery, etc.

You'd be surprised how many people actually just click "Yes" on whatever vote is in front of them. Who says the person filling would use an essence either. Just kick everyone until you get someone who does?

I did that literally half an hour ago, when our party had 5 tanks and no healers. Also, I am pretty sure I am not doing 50% less damage than a lot of these people using an essence, I have that on good authority. Either way, an essence is not required, and while I would prefer people use essences, people shouldn't be kicked out of it. I think that is abuse of the kick feature, frankly.
