I respect your passion on this topic, but I think I've already gotten more of an education than I needed, to be honest. This is a great vid about the history of the fandom, the name and how there's no real agreed upon unified meaning behind it beyond having an appreciation for depictions of anthropomorphic characters.
I know not everyone is on the same level or page on these kinda things, but I also know that much of this player base is defined by "thirst" and gravitate towards things they find sexually attractive for 1 reason or another. This is pretty out-n-proud on the Viera male thread where everyone wants their desired vision of a hot or cute guy bod, but I feel like things over here gets real silent cause very few want to be called a furry.
I personally don't shy away from the topic, I think Hrothgar males are hot and are clearly a successful attempt at making an attractive furry character model (which isn't shocking given how the devs make characters). I simply expect and want the females to also be something many could enjoy as being aesthetically attractive furry characters. Furry art and Fan-art from Western RPG games/ media IPs show this off the best, so I use it to show my love for the topic as people who like that type of art will undoubtedly be part of those who pick them up.![]()
Are you attracted to your hrothgar?!
Seriously though, I think someone can play a character and not be sexually attracted to it. Like thinking something is 'cool'. This is probably the reason "furry" is taken so negatively.

That's why I play my character. I think he looks cool. That's...all there is to it. People can have their uh...preferences for all I care. I just don't care to be associated with something that seriously doesn't apply to me. lol
And thats why I wanted a playable beast race, and why I want a badass tall athletic and strong looking female.
Because it would look cool
You can very much like or play a character for any number of reasons. For example, I know not everyone who plays a Roebro is gay or into bara and I know that not everyone who plays Femroe plays them as a futanari, but I do recognize that a number of people do play them for those reasons and there's nothing wrong with that.
That's the beauty of it, you can like what you like for w/e reason, and it's cool. This player base (like most Eastern MMO player bases) is full of thirst, so there's always going to be people who are drawn to something for that reason. It's clear that the devs know this, so I don't really shy away from it.
You don't have to take on the label of "Furry" if you don't want to be associated with that scene, but there are many people who do call themselves furry who simply think "Anthros are cool" and nothing else.
