i only got into anime last year and havent had much time to watch it, so my list will probably be short.

Trinity Blood ( was disappointed by the ending in the fact that there really wasnt one)
Death Note (The ending sucked why cant the evil guy ever win, if mikami had of done what he was told light would have won)

my main problem with getting anime is that australia has a low market base so we dont get alot of anime that north america does, but hey i guess thats what ebay is for huh.

Jyu-Oh-Sei

Sci-fi miniseries that takes place on a remote space colony.
Trust me, Its worth the time to check out this short series.
Aside from Blue Gender...I haven't seen anything that comes close to this in originality.
The series is fast paced and doesn't waste time with a dozen episodes filled with lame cliche lines.
You sit down, watch 20 min, and want to know what happens next, I just wish it was longer(I think 11 episodes).

(episode 1 spoilers below just to wet the apatite... this is the first 15 min so your not really having much ruined)

Twin brothers are kidnapped,drugged and placed into an escape pod. Kids, like 11 years old. They wake up alone on the surface of the planet down below. Its a primitive planet dominated by man eating plants(the plantlife will uproots it self and chase you!). A brutal environment where the colony sends their violent criminals to exile/die. Ill end it there. You wont watch this series upset that you spent a day in front of the screen.

-Higurashi no naka koro ni
-Fullmetal Panic
-Madlax and Noir (not the best written, but still fun)
-Deathnote (until the end where they screwed it up)
-Katekyou Hitman Reborn!
-Gintama (but only if you get Japanese humor)

And the obligatory (just cause I watch them here on TV every week)
-One Piece
-Bleach
-Naruto
-Fairy Tail

The four listed above aren't necessarily great, but as a teacher I watched them to have something to talk to my students about and came to enjoy them quite a bit.
