To MPK and few others, no excuse is good enough. I bet if something major happened to like their office caught on fire or something these ppl still be on here complaining about how the stuff they want is delayed. Ppl like MPK has just entitled trolls who are never happy with anything. They not thankful for anything.

Its hilarious how people missed the part they said they had to slow down with overall development for almost 3 months due to moving from working at office to home[which is A LOT of time in terms of development],
on top of having to develop 5.x patches AND an entire new expansion.. if anything im surprised they didnt cut it completely. And on a second thought its better to get it post stat squish than now.

Do you believe that Squeenix devs go into their disease ridden offices to game-dev in hazmat suits? I don't understand this line of reasoning.

The pandemic has been going on for an entire year if not longer in some places, we are no longer in the dark about the severity of covid, nor are we lacking in ways to stay safe.

Again I implore you to look at how other game companies have been handling the exact same problem, WoW for example, the biggest MMO in the industry at the moment, has been doing just fine, they delayed their expansion by a few months due to covid, but as a whole their deliverables have always been appropriate and have met quantity expectations, the new expansion is not nearly as skeletal as Shadowbringers has been, quality withstanding.

The reason this issue reflects so poorly on xiv devs and why people aren't as understanding is because this entire expansion has been riddled with content issues even before covid came into the forefront. I would advise looking at it from a consumer point of view; you are still expected to pay full price but in return you get arguably a lot less than previous expansions with an arguably worse quality attached. That should be reason enough to be upset and I don't approve of things like "entitlement" being thrown around when it is a service that is paid for. I respect the devs and encourage others to do the same, but they are not my friends and if they expect a monthly payment I expect a sufficient amount of content in return.

The lack of overall faith in the dev team is not the result of people being ungrateful, but the result of the dev team just ruining their track record by consistently failing to deliver on things they should.

Before you compare wow to ffxiv think about where they at in the world. Japan most likely had different rules and showdowns than the USA. Also Wow expac was most likely close to being done by the time covid hit and covid hit in the middle of making endwalker. You simply can't compare the two bc there are different times and countries.

Everything you said here is either false or highly objectionable. Any company doing what Blizzard does without the money Blizzard has would have gone under years ago. WoW is not "just fine."

8 dungeons for normal/heroic/Mythic/+, 1 10-boss raid for LFR/normal/heroic/mythic, thorgast (I'm not sure the details there), and 5 open world zones/quests/bosses.

WoW has fewer "deliverables" but they focus on those few and they still had to delay their new expansion after they've stated that they were able to transition to working from home quickly. FFXIV had trouble transitioning and had to delay just from doing the transitioning, but they've done their normal release schedule since the release of 5.3 except for having to delay one Ultimate battle instance.

Stop comparing FFXIV's situation to WoW. Shadowlands was in development for a full year and a half before Covid where EW has been in development, as far as we can tell, through it. Shadowlands, even with its head start, still had to be pushed back. It's still sustaining cuts, and will see bigger ones later on. WoW focuses on Raiding, so they are high priority. FFXIV does not. Different games with different challenges where they will focus on resources and dev time on different things.

Nothing is going to change if we just keep pretending that SE is this perfect company. They screwed up real bad this time around by prioritizing something no one wants
