Instead of cutting Ultimate from 5.5 why not cut bozja?

COVID isn't a good excuse. My company managed to set up a VPN so we can work from home pretty fast. SE is a large multi billion dollar company, it's insulting to think that they're not able to set up a work from home setup like everyone else can.

You needing just a VPN, and SE needing large workstations that draw lots of power and high bandwidth internet connections for every dev are 2 very different things.

They literally had to have movers take the workstations from the office to people's houses. This was not a simple "set up a VPN and go" thing...

Simplifying this to suit your narrative just makes you look worse.

It's ultimately (pun intended) irrelevant anyway. Whatever the reason (or excuse, if you must), the fact remains that they weren't able to finish Ultimate on time and they're not going to release it unfinished or make people work overtime to release it in 5.5.

And as for the alternative, they're not going to cut an entire series of relic quest let alone delay the next expansion over not delaying a single independent battle instance.

Whether people can accept this fact or not is not going to change SE's plan. The only thing they can do is learn from this and hopefully have a way to prevent this delay from happening again.

As the previous poster says, they have had to delay Ultimate. I completely believe the virus situation has impacted their progress, as it has with many other games.
I just hope they now focus on making their new/latest content as good as it can be - with the current Bozja situation near the top of their to-do list.

Did you even listen to the announcement steam where they said it was hard to set up a good enough system for them to work from home. I highly doubtful your "company" has ppl trying to steal info and other things like SE or any other big gaming studio.

@OP: as far as i gather, ultimate wasnt "cut", it just wasn't ready by whatever internal deadlines they had set for content between internal matters and covid delays (going so far as yoshi bringing out the ShB project manager in person to explain exactly how his job works and what it entails, including scheduling deadlines and other overheads).

so it has simply been given the time it needs to get completed properly, which will be by 6.1

I know that section probably put a lot of folks to sleep but I thought it was incredibly informative.

YoshiP said a while back that things are built way in advanced. They thought it was a good idea to prioritize a 48 man that's locked behind casual content over ultimate content which people have been waiting over 2 years for.

Apparently a global virus with multiple mutations which has killed over 2 million people worldwide so far isn't enough of an excuse for MPK (and some others) to believe when it comes to hamstringed game development.

A VPN for everyday office tasks is nowhere near on the scale of the VPN needed for game development, but nice try.
