When will fans turn on Yoshi P?

It’s possible that they won’t get an expansion right. If that happens, the fans will turn on the face of Final Fantasy IV, Yoshi. It happened with WoW, will it happen with FFXIV? There will be more years of the game, yes, but will he still be in touch with what the players want?

U know y it happens with wow alot.. because their devs are really morons.. a. They never listen to playerbase on anything, then they repeat things that almost every hates but has to do.. then the same company also screws up their other games like war3 reforge.

Yoshi 4 most part listens, and the game overall is amazing expansion come.. this won't be the last.. but also I still hop on xi... sometimes because I enjoy it..

The thing about wow.. is the company was good in 2007 and earlier but after that they became trash.. the players of it are overall fools being brought into it because the game triggers nostalgic then ruins it completely they get angry and quit lol

Yoshi P has been doing a great job with this game. Progress is a bit slow, but we're in the middle of a pandemic, what can ya do? The one thing that I was upset about, not being able to do Castrum, is being addressed. So yay.

If people wanna complain about the guy not giving them endless content on an impossibly short schedule and not doing every little thing they want, then I hope they have plenty of cheese for that vintage whine.

Square Enix staff who moderate/frequent this forum do actually send feedback to the development team in Japan. However, they probably take it with a grain of salt, because I doubt the opinions expressed in this forum are representative of the population as a whole.

Besides, if something needs fixing in the North American/EU servers, it probably needs fixing in the Japan servers, too.

Excuse or not, this still isn't WoW. Yoshi P still doesn't listen. Or really SE at large. I honestly think the only mmo on the market that does is OS Runescape with their community polls.

What does SE really listen to? Engagement metrics. Same as Blizzard.



On topic through: Yoshi P is just one part of the team. The most public figure. So, of course, anyone who is disgruntled is going to attribute their grievances directly to him.

This exactly. Unless it's a game breaking feature, SE is usually looking at what people are engaging with over threads on the forum.

I think it's important to keep in mind that this forum, or any public forum really, is only a snapshot of what the actual opinions on the game are. YoshiP and SE likely consider feedback from a ton of different sources (and, as respected as YoshiP is, he doesn't get to make all of the decisions). They probably do consider this forum and twitter and reddit and every other social media source from all over the world. But they also consider the data only they get to see like participation rates, completion rates, common progress blocks, play time, etc. Sometimes the loudest voices and the most frequent complaints don't actually move the register when it comes to how the player base at large is actually playing and enjoying the game.

Now, I do think that the devs should at the very least be more communicative with the player base. I do think some legitimate long standing issues really should at least be acknowledged even if they can't be corrected.

Basically, while I'd like to see more actual connection with the developers I still think it's very nearsighted to just assume the developers aren't listening/caring because your particular bugbear is not obviously being addressed.

Yoshida seems like an excellent dev, my problems are with Square Enix
