Ffxiv is a cool game and all....but it’s quite a stretch to say Yoshi listens to us, lol. Unless a post has an absurd amount of up votes, chances are he won’t listen. And even if it does get a lot of up votes, it’s not even guaranteed to happen.U know y it happens with wow alot.. because their devs are really morons.. a. They never listen to playerbase on anything, then they repeat things that almost every hates but has to do.. then the same company also screws up their other games like war3 reforge.
Yoshi 4 most part listens, and the game overall is amazing expansion come.. this won't be the last.. but also I still hop on xi... sometimes because I enjoy it..
The thing about wow.. is the company was good in 2007 and earlier but after that they became trash.. the players of it are overall fools being brought into it because the game triggers nostalgic then ruins it completely they get angry and quit lol
There's also heavy evidence to suggest he doesn't hear about NA/EU feedback at all.
This is true. We saw this when the backlash from the West started up after the race announcements leading up to Shadowbringers. That said, when he does interact with the western audience he does at least seem to be interested in our feedback and concerns. He does genuinely seem to want to make a game that is enjoyed by all its players. Its understandable that most of the feedback he gets and responds to is Japanese. That's the culture he's surrounded by, and those are the people he's most easily able to communicate with, and in general if he does go to visit worlds, they're normally Japanese servers.
So there are definitely improvements that could be made to hearing the feedback from the western players, but I will also say that it does seem that when it does get to him, he does so what he can to try to implement it, and that sometimes his hands are tied and he simply can not do what people are asking for because those above him won't give him the resources to do it.
Hearing, listening, and acting are all different adjectives that mean different things. As is what Yoshi hears, listens to, and acts upon. To say Yoshi is oblivious to NA/EU feedback is about as erroneous as saying Japanese culture hasn't influenced anything in English speaking nations.
That said, the man is not infallible, but he also isn't a genie.
There is a difference from listening and doing. I strongly believe they listen, but they may not do everything they hear. In some ways that is good, how many ideas have you seen? Some are too expensive, or bad, or don't fit the game, or ruin a content for someone else. I could easily put some of my desires under expensive lol (instances housing, complete glamour log, certain jobs, etc). Of course something's you wish they did spend the big bucks on but... Yeah.. lol.
They can't do everything even if all things were good ideas. I've seen a lot of content adjust based on forum comments, myself included. I think people would see this more if they extended their time frame to about 6 months, since ideas can't be represented instantly.
Even healer I believe was based on feedback. A lot of people commented that they wanted to heal focus... Obviously that didn't quite go right, since they just removed damage options without keeping the need for healing through all scaling of content (when people first started the expansion they were actually healing more.... But then gear and new abilities kicked in and it didn't keep, but less choices to damage did).
May say it is too old to be reliable or whatever, but I did ask, part of another site, long ago, how they handle forum stuff. They said they compile feedback frequently from all forums and spend quite a bit of time reviewing it.
He listen to players that is logic, sane, and understand for the most.
No one will listen to dumb, illogical, or out of place request.
