Is no one else going to call out the fact that they promised minion ran farms in 5.x series?

Gardens dont have to be checked every couple of hours. Takes like 48 hours to lose crops completely. They dont go bad until after 24hrs. Fertilizer speeds up growth bit does not need to be done every couple hours as it will not benefit further. Game gives you plenty of time to avoid losing crops.I hope it's not tedious. Like it's neat if you can grow and harvest stuff, but if I have to click on it every couple hours or I lose the crop like the gardening we already have then no thanks.
Hopefully it will function like an apartment except with an outdoors area that you can decorate with outdoor furnishings.

It might end up being something like Diadem floating islands. Although i prefer it each player can get their own instanced island, then it reminds me of Wildstar where we get our own island as housing.
Having said that, i think let’s not overhype ourselves. From the announcement it doesn’t sound like this was instanced.

why? these player could have the houses AND the farms for more gardening.
I have 10,000 needles,
I'm not a weaver,
and I'm not scared to use them.
Sure some might keep those excess houses, but not having as much control over garden production will severally tank their monetary gains unlike with how owning an entire division currently gives them a significant percentage of a world's limited gardening production. If each player gets say 6 8 slot garden plots on the farm having an alt with an empty small house with 1 8 slot garden that you need to ensure that you enter once every 45 days isn't that much of a production gain compared to just having the alts hang out on their personal farms.
Seems to be more of a gimmicky thing for players to do when they're bored.
It doesn't sound like it's housing. It sounds a lot more like WoW's Garrisons, which had areas for mining, growing herbs and letting your companion pets run around but only a few customization options to make it an engaging place to visit.
Why on earth SE would want anything similar to that waste of development time is beyond me.
The "high expectations" seems to be more word play now that we know where we're going next expansion.
This is probably those very player run farms they had talked about. I imagine it got pushed far down the priority list when COVID threw a wrench into development plans.

I've been waiting for this since that one Q&A near the beginning of Shadowbringers
Minions are too cute I hope it will be implemented well

Yeah they mentioned farms a long while back like when Shb 1st came out, stuff like minions would be involved to help out maintaining. Might of originally been cropped for 5.4 or 5.5 but everything got hella messed up with covid.
I hope and suspect that this will essentially be instanced housing. It's something the game has been needing for a while. While it's neat that every house has a physical address anybody can just walk up to, I feel that 90% of estate owners don't care and just want a pretty little corner of the game they can AFK in. And hell, I totally agree, that's what my apartment is.
I want people to have their pretty little decorating/gardening space that they can AFK and chill in, which would in turn free up much of the housing market for people who want public estates.

"Yes it is, and I'm going to use 21 of them."
But ... but how will I cover the Thavnarian Onion market if everyone can grow them?
Wait ... wait. Oh ... oh NO.
THAVNARIAN Onions. We are going to Thavnair. A vendor will probably sell them. Oh NO.
