Not really surprised by a new melee class (though as much I love edgyness for the lols, I find Scythe too over the top) since Final Fantasy has been a very melee series to begin with, though I thought that 14 would try to subvert that with melee hybrids for Caster and Ranged physical (still hoping for a Garlean Gunblade class that's the Ranged physical equivalent of Red Mage)

8-man Fights are designed with 2 tank/2 healer/2 melee/2 ranged compositions in mind. We ended up having a 1 melee/3 ranged(2 casters/1 physical ranged) meta for a while due to both SUM and BLM doing damage rivaling that of the melee jobs.

I doubt we'll see necromancer in name. We already know of one necromancer in Eorzea, Nybeth Obdilord, the boss of PotD floor 100 and it's clearly a caster type job with control over the undead and the ability to raise them.
I could see something that resemble a necromancer, but not an undead raising type.
Raising the dead as undead is very taboo in Eorzea, especially in Ul'Dah after the war with Sil'Dih.

The Nouliths on the Sage job and how they look, along with the way they are deployed are very reminiscent of Penny’s (the redhaired android) weapon. Penny also had the ability to shield. She cast a shield upon an entire city to protect it. Here are a couple of photos (I hope they show up! O-O)

....edit.... photos did not show up ;( I used img tags and the hosted url link, but nothing. I do not understand. *shrug*

Then for DPS, there is so much talk of necromancy and reapers and such...all using a scythe. But that type of character does not really fit with the WOL. RWBY is a sweet, pure innocent “good” guy (girl) who happens to wield a cool but nasty huge scythe that has a sniper rifle in the handle. Her class is called “huntress” (of hunter for guys). Now I could see (and would LOVE to have) this style of a scythe wielding character for the WoL. I know these jobs are completely original but perhaps they were inspired by the ones from RWBY. You never know. It is just fun to speculate and imagine while we wait for the announcements and the expansion. Let me know if anyone else thought of Penny when they saw the video of the sage in action. Take care everyone!

I was thinking Weiss since Sage uses glyphs like Weiss does. So, it's a combination of Weiss and Penny. I'd love to have the melee job to look like Ruby's weapon and fight style.

I don't speak Arabic, but google translates does, and it came out to "akhi" which is British slang for someone returning to Islam. It can also mean brother/sister or a person who likes white socks. 0.o going to need an Arabic speaker to clarify the meaning.

Basically, the tee-shirt is probably not a clue, and if it is, the next class will have a Punk Rock feel, and very well may be a Necromancer. Because well you want to feel Punk Rock in a magical world, raise the dead and fight in melee. (joke)

My guess is they're going with Templar (not sure if it's been mentioned but it's a reasonable guess based on the director of The Filth and the Fury being Julien Temple), as demand for mystic knight was high, and Templar is an iteration of it. The only reason I think it may be a scythe, besides the reaper on the shirt, is it's a popular weapon and if it is Templar, going with a sword would make it sword user #6. Could be something like a glaive or some other modified weapon. Expecting it'll be maiming given the style of Templar. Also, Zenos's trained fighting style, which he has applied to SAM swords, is that of a mystic knight, i.e. drawing aether out of the blades he wields, and I'm half guessing he'll be representing this new dps in the trailer as well. I wonder if this will lead them to potentially rework NIN into striking to simplify gear distribution going forward.

Necromancer can be done in the future, but my firmer expectation is it will be in 7.0 if it's to come at all, as that's when a caster is very likely (along with another ranged dps I reckon). Something with a DOT niche and which benefits from SPS (if they can integrate the two concepts; other MMOs have), so it has an easy time sharing gear melds with BLM, would be cool. Unfortunately it'll be competing with GEO and Time Mage (which could easily be done with a darkness aspect), but we'll see. It almost made it into XI, so I'd like for it to come into XIV, but I'll take a darkness-wielding Time Mage as well.

The healer design is honestly very good. I was expecting CHM/apothecary. I recall someone submitted a design for GEO with floating crystals that the GEO deploys when casting spells, and this does look a lot like that. I'd love for a caster DPS with a floating type weapon like this.

Oh oh that geo design was me! At least only one in general discussion that I saw.

The healer does look neat :3

I'm not confident it is necro either but I would love the job has those dark themed like the image gives off. Although the general concept of the temple character isn't bad either, I wouldn't be sad if it was just that. Just extra shocked and hyped if the imagery of the shirt was a direct influence (dark sinister).

As far as the melee DPS goes, I'm really in line to think that it will be some variation of Templar with an adjective related to fear or despair in front, perferably a single syllable. So like, Dread Templar or Black Templar or Dark Templar. Kinda hoping for Black Templar so we can abbreviate it to BLT :P Sandwiches, anyone?

NekoHina's idea about it being called Hunter also makes sense. We've seen that they are willing to reference Bloodborne heavily, and the First Hunter in Bloodborne is Gehrman, and he wields a scythe made out of meteor rock(that would actually be quite thematic in FF given the prevalence of meteors). Maybe like, Dread Hunter? Fear Hunter? Death Hunter? Night Hunter? That coupled with Zenos also going on about, "The Hunt" and such... it kinda fits really well. That, and, a lot of people predict Beastmaster after Bozja. Well, in FFXI, Beastmaster had a C- skill rating in Scythes, and it could learn the Weaponskill NM scythe move, "Spiral Hell." In other MMOs, Hunters are generally akin to what a Beastmaster is, and people in this thread have theorized that it could be a Ran'jit like fusion class. Though I don't see Zenos keeping a pet so...

Edit: Maybe uh, Beast or Daemon Hunter?

Yeah, BST is called hunters in other mmo; mostly every other mmo. BST seemed like a given, even more so than another healer because they specially mentioned it....BUT, given SE's track record of pet classes lol......I can see why they would get away from transnational BST/Hunters, and go with something else (If that is what they are doing).

I can also see them dumping the idea of BST completely and going with a different dps. My question is, what is left then?

Imo, they really don't quite know what to do with the class just yet, so didn't show or detail much about it. I mentioned Ran'jit before, because it seems like something that could force SE away from standard pet classes (Which they suck at), into something more traditional.

I still hold on to the belief that pets or summons should be something every class has access to; for a strategic heal, buff, or dps. People, from what I have seen...shun the idea of another pet class from SE. Community seems split. As a avid BST, I was not as thrilled as i should have been when they mentioned BST awhile back lol.......

Honestly, if they never release BST....I would not be as bothered as I would have been last year.....XIV is my on and off mmo. Having a decent time with SMN; not amazing, but decent nonetheless. I digress...

Purple being the blade being partially obscured by the seat and green being the handle. Going off the location of the handle it looks like a location you would put it for a scythe
Yeah but it seem still small, so the "demonic scythe" where the "scealed demon" becomes the blade went just perfectly with my other ideas xD
Ppl think on either necromancer, templar, beast master but it can be a mix tbh. I don't see wol necromancer happening (who knows lol) but i can see necromancers be a part of the new job storyline and be the bad guys.

Guild Wars 2 did melee necro just fine. Besides, it may not be called "necro", can have an unrelated name like "Animalist" and use spirit/spectre egis by absorbing aether from defeated enemies. The core of a necromancer job might be there (raise pets from corpses to attack with) but any branding may be applied.
