And we might even find out 100% what the weapon will be in aprilWe actually already once had that here in FFXIV originally back in 1.0 - it was called THM.
Original 1.0 THM was about using umbral drain spells for healing and debuffs, and astral aligned DPS spells (like Dia). However it was radically redesigned when Jobs were added and thus it was changed to be a better fit for BLM (this is why THM/BLM has the whole 'umbral/astral' shift mechanic - it's a remaining legacy of it's 1.0 origins.). Unfortunately this meant they lost their drain healing abilities and spells in the process.
It's possible that SE may bring that sort of Job back, but I doubt they will (after all, the new healer has already been announced, so if there is any new drain healing for this remaining DPS Job, it will be more for self-heals and not party wide healing as that is not it's role). Either way, we'll find out in May.or even march
Hmm I wasn't actually thinking of leech HEALING, but I see your point. Usually, leech and drain classes have a give and take of sacrificing hp for buffs or big damage, and then either regain health slowly through the rotation or build a resource from it.We actually already once had that here in FFXIV originally back in 1.0 - it was called THM.

Something totally random I realized while watching the trailer for Sage. I had the feeling I had already seen something like it somewhere else and, welp, the casting animation for Sage's healing spell is the same as XI's white magic spells.
I live for details like this and I approve it wholeheartedly.

Sorry, but barf. I play every job in game and sage is extremely lame. The weapons is gonna eat up a ton of graphics.
If healer is pure heal and scholar is shell mage, why steal their functionality.
Just add to it astrologian I consider a "buff" healer. Sage could have been a "debuff" healer
Think aoe slow, gravity, poison, paralyze, stun etc BTW, that was supposed to be blue mage spot in my opinion.
As for other job if it must be a dps/melee, I wanted another "redmage" job without the distance. I reworking of geomancer/hammer weapons imbuing party with elemental effect and aoe damage while staying close. MAGICAL weapons trike could eat mp, as too would aoe pool damage.
I also feel the missing job should focus on Damage over time spells and debuffs, once again a perfect spot for blue mage. Also, the missing mage job should be a melee range fight.
not sure if anyone bothered, but the tee-shirt is made by Neighborhood, which is a Japanese men's clothing company. The tee-shirt has been out for a while and references the first Newspaper headline of the Punk Rock band The Sex Pistols, it is also the name of a documentary of early Punk Music. I don't speak Arabic, but google translates does, and it came out to "akhi" which is British slang for someone returning to Islam. It can also mean brother/sister or a person who likes white socks. 0.o going to need an Arabic speaker to clarify the meaning.
Basically, the tee-shirt is probably not a clue, and if it is, the next class will have a Punk Rock feel, and very well may be a Necromancer. Because well you want to feel Punk Rock in a magical world, raise the dead and fight in melee. (joke)
The Arabic letters in that image are random letters that make no sense on their own, one of them is upside down, one of them is reversed, one isn't complete, they're not even connected to make a whole word let alone a comprehensible one, unless it's an occult symbol that Idk about.
I think it's just there to look "exotic"

I’m throwing my money at Beastmaster.
Hear me out:
The shirt references the “sex pistols”.
Wife has informed me that here in Japan, there is an obscure manga called “sex pistols” which is about humans with slight animal hybrid blood.
Not Beastars level..just macho men with some animal-like character traits..
And before you google away, warning: lots of boy on boy romance.
(Personally still hoping for Rune Knight...but wife was convincing)

Oh yeah they could use some part of necromancy or use something linked to it. Shaman are pretty close (communication with spirits), so they could go full shaman king as well xD. I just think they want to avoid the wol to use corpses, gouhls or evil things. A spirit is not always evil and shamans being the ennmies of necromancers could make sense.I don't think they are gonna call it necromancer since name can cause problems in some places. they can use some elements of it but not the name. I personally though a job name like yaksha would be pretty cool. I also wouldnt mind if this is 14's version of beast master or something like that and if they make a limited job version they would call it tamer since they didnt mention a new limited job for 5.5. In the end i would really want Ranjit's style of fighting to be the base of it, not exactly 1-1 since the style would diviate from the 1st and source but elements of it are there. Could even call it morpher.
Yaksha are gardians spirits if i'm correct, that's close too. And they have 2 personnalities : 1 calm and 1 very aggressive.

IF... we get get a Scythe job, i can see the whole idea of Necromancer, but really... a Scythe user doesn't need to be a necromancer.

Both Square - Enix properties & users of Scythe and magic attacks.
I feel Mystic/ Mystic Knight would fit the job well.
We have to recall, that the whole aspect of death has negative connotations in some parts of the world, and even the idea of Thief was shot down due to the possibility of glorifying negative/ illegal actions/ practices.

bit late to reply here, but a possible angle for melee-scythe-beastmaster could be in the vein of ranjit's Dragonslaver abilities.hmmm... it is hard. Maybe the new class uses a Scythe, but what classes have used scythe? I also can't see a Necro job because it still causes issues in being the warrior of light. Maybe a Geomancer using a scythe since scythes were used as agricultural tools. Beast master also been known to use Scythes, but who said it would be a beast master like the ones we have already encountered?
tbh the "debuffer-healer" idea sounds more like SCH's approach before shadowbringers when all of their non-healing abilities were completely removed--i'd certainly welcome getting those back and pruning out some of the more redundant healing options that replaced them. if that yields the "shield healer" spot to sage then i'd be fine with that, but speaking from experience being a "shield healer" with nothing else to do once people are topped up and under a warm cover is super boring, and wouldn't want another class to interhit that same problem.

It's going to be Beastmaster - as some others have said. Aside from their personal explanations, Beastmasters are known to wield Scythes as a weapon.
