FF Youtubers are always wrong

FFXIV development is mostly random, new jobs and destinations can be anything. WoW is more stable since there is a pre-existing lore with the previous games.

Also, speaking generally, this is just a result of the video fetishism that started with youtube : useless videos about anything and everything are created constantly. Even when some text and pictures would be better, no, it must be a 20 mins video because videos are better (and monetized).

It was blindingly obvious to pretty much everyone it would be a new healer, so it seems to me like everyone got that one right.

But then, what healer? FF lore has no healers left. People thought it might be Geomancer, but Geomancer is only compared to a healer (AST) in some Job text. It's never actually been a healer. In Tactics, it was a melee DPS.

A healer will always be some sort of caster, because they're not going to rebuild duties that are already built around a healer always being a caster to support a kind of healer that isn't, so something like XI's DNC was never going to happen, not ever in a million years.

So what's left? Something we've never heard of.

Exactly the way AST is a Job that is pretty much exclusive to FFXIV, and SCH bears no resemblance to previous SCH. And GNB is a Job entirely invented by FFXIV, and SMN only resembles SMN.

The only really safe bet was *vague gesture* some kind of healer. Beyond that what did you expect?

Sage came out of left field because there weren't any hints for it. That said, I am pretty sure Dancer, Samurai, Ninja, Blue Mage and Red Mage have all be in the predictions. I remember one of The Rising Events there's 2 NPC's talking, asking what comes after "White" and "Black" and then they said "Red" and "Blue", so I took that as a hint we'd get RDM, BLU or both. Ninja was obvious as hell. Dancer was speculated for Stormblood partially because of Lyse in the trailer where people weren't sure if MNK or DNC, where DNC could have been tapered off from PGL maybe. In 1.0 there were Ala Mhigan blade dancers and although the prediction didn't come true for Stormblood, the demand and predictions lasted to Shadowbringers too where many thought it'd be the 4th healer. Samurai was ousted by one of Yoshi P's t-shirts where somebody tracked the author and made the connect there. Somebody did the same for Yoshi P's t-shirt this time and came out with "Templar".

That said, I recall Mr Happy saying Red Mage would never work as a concept in this game. :P But they found a way.

Square knows people analyze the shit out of this stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if they put in intentional red herrings.

This. It's why I don't trust the hints YoshiP put out on our next melee job. But I'm going with 'Reaper' and seeing where that goes.

And like with the above "Templar" I think could be a red herring, especially as no doubt YoshiP knows people would repeat methods of figuring out hints as before.

FF lore has no healers left.

Time Mage (Healer in some games)

Sage (healer/dps hybrid in some games)

Devout (Upgraded White mage that's in some games, Krile kind of channels this with her hood)

Spiritmaster (Devout parallel in Bravely Default)

Bishop (Hybrid in FFT and a healer in Bravely Second)

Exorcist (Peculiar healer in Bravely Second)

Chemist/Apothecary (Healer in Variety of games)

And that's not even going into support/buffer classes, which can easily be converted into healers in theory. There were plenty of classes in other games to choose from, they chose to make a unique take on sage and there's nothing wrong with that, but please do your research before making an argument next time.

So in their defense:
1. They did predict a healer
2. NOONE could predict a straight up new made up class that does not even exist in FF lore as a healer
3. Should I show you the hundreds of post about Sylvannas becoming the Lich Queen and supposed leaks?

Also do you really want to go there with Preach giving a MASSIVE pass to Blizzard on Covenants and talking about how they were fixed or playing up Torghast as this fun thing that has turned into a massive grind fest?

Mr. Happy has been saying for years btw that we were going to the Moon and Ethys has DEFINITELY been saying for years that we were going to Thavnair since it is literally uncovered on the map and we pass it constantly on the way to Kugane.
