Why do people save LB till the end of the fight?

We all know it's very possible, likely even, that multiple party members will critically fail mechanics all at once.

You can hold it, and possibly waste it. Losing like 25 seconds or so.

You can use it straight away, possibly wasting 5 minutes or more if people then start dropping dead.

In general, if your aim is to use the limit break to play as time efficiently as possible then you would have to be getting through something like a dozen alliance raids without a wipe to make hitting it ASAP the best option.
In reality this is all obviously dependent on the raid and alliance you get, someone with a bit of experience should have a decent idea of which will be the most efficient route by the time they've got an LB3 to spend though.

I'm not gonna lie to you chief, I don't know that its likely that a bunch of people will critically fail mechanics all at once. Typically people perform decently. Its really not that common in my experience. Haven't seen a Healer Lb3 used in Puppet's Bunker since week one. Most recent one was in e12n, again, the first week it was out. Obviously in savages healer lb3 is slightly more useful, but even then it may not save the run depending on where it was used because of its heavy animation lock. Usually its only useful for prog, rather than recovering a weekly kill.

You also seem to have a more negative outlook on things. Could be related. Maybe not, but assuming everyone around you will consistently majorly mess up seems condescending to me.

I think I had an E10N -- forget which one, but I know this took place -- that healer LB3 was used TWICE in the SAME ITERATION to gain victory.

Because it obstructs your progress, takes your time, and may (depending on how the "bad" is) constrict the future of the game, in your view.

There's old stigma attached from when LBs were saved for 3 reasons: Mechs required a Tank Shield, the party was iffy and might need a Healer LB3 or an add needed nuking and there was (and kind of still is) a hierarchy in place for single-target damage of which melee pretty much is at the top of. Still.

However, these days people care more about personal numbers and many melee won't limit break because of the animation lock which shaves precious dps from their overall performance. (This is for real. I asked around to some of my friends who are melee mains and this was the general consensus). It's a little more relaxed nowadays, and especially if you have mostly ranged in your party, LBs are definitely great for mobs in that case but especially in cases with more difficult content, LBs are better saved for healer res honestly.

Also someone mentioned that the bar doesn't fill when you are killing things too fast. This is true. Taking lots of damage helps. Once, during World of Darkness someone suggested everyone stand in the meteor markers when they fell so lb would fill faster. We all did and we got 2 LB3s during the final boss. It was amazing.

But really. In standard duties there's no excuse. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for using it if it's obvious no one else is. Feel the power!

Are you okay?

Someone being bad at a game obstructs nothing for me. Nothing stops me from leaving the party if I'm really feeling some type of way about it. I'd rather try and help them improve than arbitrarily try and get them banned for no reason (not that anyone's gonna get there account terminated for that anyway). The game will be fine with people who aren't good at it just like it always has been.

Or it's the result of 6 years of accumulated experiences in this game. I don't speak for Jandor, but I've been playing since 2.0's release. I've seen a lot of bad, and I mean A LOT OF BAD over these past 7 years, to the point where I am unable to trust other players unless they're somebody I know, where I expect the others to not hold their weight, where I expect to have to carry all of the duties myself. And around 85% of the time, I will be correct, as I'm finding myself solo healing current normal raids, alliance raids, trials, and EX fights, or finding myself being near the top of the enmity list as a DANCER in those fights either due to people dying to things they shouldn't, or because they're just that bad of players.

Now there are exceptions, such as when somebody is new or I outgear others (I'm only in Tomestone/Normal raid gear). Those are fine, I don't hold those against people. But when those do not apply, I will frown upon you as I silently judge you and growl from my end of the keyboard while attempting to never comment because I'm trying not to be toxic.

/shrug. I've played since 2.4, so not quite as long as you but still plenty of time. I've seen more good players than bad and I choose to let those players color my opinion and expectations of my party mates rather than those who play poorly.

I'm a rather positive person, just not naively so. Things won't just work out for the best because I wish it so, steps have to be taken, one of those steps might be holding off on LB3 if people are dying a lot.

I doubt my outlook is affecting my various groups performances. I don't make a habit of commenting on it in chat, and I doubt the other people in the group can read my mind.

Expecting mistakes could possibly be seen as condescending, if I was pretending I am perfect. I'm not immune to forgetting which primal does which AoE either, I only run the thing once a week afterall.
