Why do people save LB till the end of the fight?

God, I thought we were past the ice cold take of "dps lb is a waste unless it kills the boss!"

Such a waste of time just for someone to get an anime finisher that probably won't actually get to deal its damage.

Finally, someone with sense! I cannot believe we've got to page 6 before someone finally gets close to the proper reason (outside of content where you think things could get dicey enough you'll need the tank/healer LB)
It's the reason me and my friends often save it for the final boss - not for the efficiency, seriously, the tiny bit you get is just not worth it, let it drop and have some fun unless savage/extreme/ultimate. It is:

There is a fine art to trying to time it so it goes to off to as near as damn it exactly kill the boss, and when you get it right it feels awesome.

Except, many people do actually get it, believe it or not. While understandable, obviously it is not a thing for everybody. ‘Looking cool’ is a matter of perspective after all. There are always 4 camps existing in regards to how LB is used, and this is one of them.

The other three camp being the ‘use it or it’s a loss’-camp; ‘save for crucial moment’-camp; and lastly ‘what is LB?’-camp.

I’m in fine line between all camps depending on mood, personally.
I will however press the LB regardless whatever role I am playing if nobody touches that sweet LB button at 5% or lower & when I know we’re going to lose it in next encounter.

Yep, for that, I’ve once pissed a certain DPS in one of alliance raid before because I hit SCH LB3 cause I believe they thought I ‘stole’ the spectacle from them at 4%.

I agree there's no reason not to use it, but I also don't keep a timer running when I play the game so I have something silly to be upset about. Part of the fun (for me) in roulettes is seeing what types of players you will get and how things will go and I often find runs where things go a bit awry to be more memorable than the ones that go perfectly and fast.

I have been scolded for using LB as a damage dealer in dungeons several times because someone else thought they had a better idea of when it should be used -- so I stopped using LB. I have never been scolded for not using LB.

So there you go.

I actually lost a previous character over this, earlier in my SE MMO career.

The way you answer the question is this: Especially in DF, especially Stormblood on forward, you need the Heal LB3 as an insurance policy. And especially when someone does it to show off and troll the run and THEN you wipe, wasting 15-25 minutes -- and then them TELLING YOU that they demand you go to their schedule (also making sure you can't leave the duty yourself, nor vote-kick the guy)...

Well, the fact that's largely true (there are exceptions) should not be underestimated here.

well if the fight is going well enough that the tank or the healer doesnt need it to save everyone then yeah ill use it

i wish tho that the LBs are personal while in a group and really wish i had one while solo

Its very much largely untrue. Holding it until you can get The Last Hit™️ will be a waste of it a grand majority of the time. Doubly so if its held until 1% and thus the boss just dies before it goes off.

Not to mention the best use for it in dungeons is the beginning of a big trash pull.

the thing that results in having to start the whole fight over in casual content like normal mode raids and alliance raids is multiple party members critically failing mechanics all at once. You did not wipe because the Ninja used the LB at 20% instead of 2%.

Would you also blame the ninja if they DC'd and you lost lb3 that way?
