People will be working on that fight for months. Not every group of high end raiders participates in the world first race.

That's exactly what I was expecting it to be.
I should have been more clear in my statement above. My post never mentioned the raiding/crafting content being dead, I was referring to the lifespan of the content.

The hardcore players beat Alexander in a few days. The hardcore crafters and gatherers profited from the crafting patch because that's what is done during crafting content patches, you profit off of the market's demand. So in both cases, the content has its place of value.

The longer these MMOs are on the market, content additions like this keeps new players within the same space of the veterans. If these additions aren't created, new players may feel alone and quit, then the game will slowly die off. Ishgarde will be a useful and optional catch up tool (there are beast tribes, weekly collectibles as well) for people who haven't been playing since day one, with the carrots being: a cool glam, new mounts, pets, emotes, achievements, titles, etc.

The people who get to experience new content on release get that nostalgic memory that people coming in five expansions later did not. When content is new, especially during a brand new release like say ARR/2.0, the community starts building tools to support the game, optimizations get shared, and players begin playing more "optimally" thanks to informational community members. Here we are now in 5.X and we have many amazing tools at our disposal.

They are adding “Expert Recipes.” And apparently they are adding new conditions other than poor, excellent, and great to make it important to HQ the item. That makes macros useless I believe. The ranking system seems to be a 10 day thing from what I read, so people continuously have chances to get on top of the leaderboards. Leaderboards will be on lodestone as well. There’s a....skill simulator? And apparently there will be a system similar to Combat dummies where you can practice rotations on.

Rewards for turning in expert recipes consists of “special titles’” (vet crafters hardly care) if you’re on top, and a few other un named rewards. As I feared, the rewards for completing these are just special titles and most likely some tool glamour and furniture. This thread is kind of pointless now, they clearly don’t want motivation to be a key factor in making these expert recipes.

I’m not busting my butt for a title and tool glamour and furniture. At the very least no special accessories...? I don’t see hardcore crafters bothering with this at all. It’ll likely be a dead activity after the first 2 weeks. I think I’ll kindly stick with traditional gaming where there is an actual grind, with actual rewards. Really sad to see what crafting has turned into, but I still respect their decision to make crafting not so gated. Minimalistic and effortless content with meaningless risk vs reward just isn’t my thing. I think I’ll probably wait for a new FF mmo, one preferably not directed by Yoshida, or one where his involvement in crafting is very marginal at best. At least I still enjoy the gold saucer games lol.

    Bye Felicia.

And I think you missed the part where the mentioned upgradable tools each patch, like relic weapons. That'll keep you grinding for a LONG time.

I don’t know who “Felicia” is, but source?

Edit: I just saw it. That’s actually pretty cool, and might be something that makes it easier to add progress to Expert Recipes. Still though, not going to hold my breath. I know it’s similar to Relics, and is basically a crafter Relic tools, but it just doesn’t feel the same. Hope you enjoy it though. I think I’ll stick to my gold saucer games and monster hunter world until a new mmo is announced. Whether it’s FF or something with more potential.

I find it sad that there are tons of threads calling out SE on the poor difficulty in crafting, and in 2021 almost in 6.0 they still refuse to do anything about it lmao what is even the point of having ffxiv forums if you ignore 99% of the posts

How do you propose making it difficult when there's always a mathematical solution to be found?

You can put the ability to use actions on a timer but that's not rewarding skill, that's rewarding players with low ping who don't get screwed up by server tics.

That’s great, it means crafting isn’t so annoying anymore. Here’s the problem with that, though. Ever since that RNG problem has been fixed, players who enjoy a challenge like myself, are basically denied that challenge.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe there are crafters out there that actually enjoyed 2.0 - 3.5’s RNG? Because, it helps us become better crafters, and it feels incredibly rewarding to know that you HQ’d a craft that tries to flip you off with RNG. It’s SO rewarding. Not only that, but it raises the value of your time spent per craft. Back then, crafts took 2 minutes per rotation. (makers mark and hasty touch)

Now? 40 seconds - 1 minute. In a single macro. A. Single. Macro. I kid you not. One. Macro. Square Enix, do you not see the problem with this? What were you thinking? I understand you need to cater to casual players that don’t take crafting very seriously, but it’s very insulting to completely flip off your hardcore players, and refuse to give us challenging recipes with great rewards. Such as high stat gear or tools. We just want a challenge, and we want to be rewarded for that challenge.

And for people who say “B-but Ishgard Restoration will be challenging”...no, it won’t. They tend to hype up things relating to crafting, but when it actually drops, it’s underwhelming. They have a pretty good track record in regards to that, lol.

    Stormblood - Prudent Touch
ShadowBringers - Preparatory Touch, Prudent Touch, Delicate Synthesis.

Square Enix, how much easier do you plan on making crafting? How much longer do you plan on ignoring your hardcore players? Eventually, you’ll reach a point where it’s literally impossible to make this any easier.

We aren’t children, you know. We can figure mechanics out.
So what you want is to never get new powers but to instead only have 4 buttons all the way from level 1 to level 80 with increasing RNG?
