That being said, immersion's been coming up a lot recently, not just from the troll. I'll throw in my two cents on that topic and then hop on out of this thread.

Immersion is only as relevant/solid as the player themselves makes it. You cannot control what another character looks like or does, and neither should you be able to, so even if the game was 100% lore friendly in every design, you'd still have some guy finding the most butt-ugly outfit to run around in and annoy everyone else with it. Other players cannot be controlled in this manner.

That being said, you can control your own character. I personally dress up Khenda in appropriate gear for class & cutscenes (or, failing that, at least something that looks good) because I think it really adds to the story if you look the part of whatever you envision your character as. I'm also fond of doing expansions as trailer jobs, which is another layer of immersion I impose on myself that I really enjoy.

I think the game does a good enough job of allowing you to be as immersed as you, yourself, want to be. There are plenty of reasonable clothing options in the game and class gear mostly looks appropriate, aside from a few notorious screwups.

Seriously, though, stop quoting the original post. MPK doesn't even believe their own posts and purposefully words it just so people can get angry at their own strawman.

This game has such a "f it. Whatever" aesthetic that you could throw a.. a.. well I was going to say Gundam and remembered there are mechs; was going to say aliens but the neir raid exists; was going to say literally any random thing could be added in 14 and I'd be "sure, okay!" SE has pretty much covered every base with weird little cosmetics and such to the point you can't really say your immersion is being broken when SE never bothered to foster it.

People need to remember this game was NEVER a classic game of thrones type of game or setting. And thank GOD for that too. Final Fantasy always mixed things up. It always was a mixed of classic and scifi mixed to make their own worlds in each and every game ever. people with this complaint must have NEVER played a single freaking FF game ever.

Well, that glamour is ugly, but that is the one that broke your immersion? nah, are you even looking at the glamours already on the game and scions costumes, but most important, your immersion could be weak if clothes are the ones that bothers you most and people like you are the reason we still have gender and class lock on stuff

Remember that FF fan base can be from different FFs that can have a look from medieval,steampunk,Modern fantasy,science fiction, tribal, etc etc

FFXIV with the whole shard stuff, can have ANY of those
