Possible Ideas to Address Hrothgar/Viera Hat Disparity?

The solution would be for squenix to buy the rights to the process from "joe" for a dollar.
As it is "Joe" will probably get a cease and desist.

It isn't so much that "Joe" figured something out or is doing something they couldn't do themselves.

"Joe" can't add things to the character creation, only replace the appearance of one thing with another so it doesn't really solve anything.

All it does is confirm that the character models themselves aren't particularly the problem, the way they set up the character creation process for Hrothgar is.

I must not have read his post close enough the first time because I also don't know what he means by compensation (the only one getting compensated by this is SE) but I think he's 100% correct in feeling like they felt more comfortable doing something experimental and possibly(definitely) unpopular with Hrothgar rather than Viera.

If Viera had to buy a Fantasia to change their hair everyone would have lost their minds, but with Hrothgar being less played it never gained much traction.

That crossed my mind as well, I guess we'll never know for sure what the thought process behind that was.

True, true. But the lack of hairstyles at least seems to be more about parity with Hrothgar than an issue at the core of character creation/modification by aesthetician, but in the end they went ahead with it anyway so you're right.

Pretty much, it's important for people on these forums to realize not everyone has the same priorities or principles.

I pretty much exclusively kept the same short racial hair style as femroe (think it was hairstyle 2 ...) and as Miqote I mostly just collect hairstyles for fun, choosing to stick exclusively to w/e short hair I like the most. If Hrothgar female were released and I fell in love with them I'd gladly sacrifice every hair style I collected and the 3-4 head gears I like that Hrothgar and Viera can't currently wear and just stick to 1 hair style (if they had that same limitation of it being a CC option).

Basically everyone still playing Viera is saying that they like the race enough to accept that they have zero hats and the least amount of hair styles (8) and don't get any of the new shared hair styles. That's not to say people are happy with the situation or limits by any means, but the popularity of both races is proof of how much people like them regardless of these limits.

Another point this reminded me of - going by the illustration in Save the Queen, and in keeping with being based on lions, female Hrothgar don't seem to have hair at all.

If they were going to go that route at the point when they were making them playable, the question would have been what else can be customisable in its place, and fur pattern would have been the alternative.

This conversation about "which came first, the Hrothgar or Viera" along with the deep seeded question of "Wut do female Hrothgar look like and how would this hair system work for them" kinda got my gears turning.

Again, I think it's clear that Hrothgar were first and they later decided to do Viera instead of female Hrothgar. From interviews were they said it to the game it's self wrapping many important elements of this expac's content/ lore around the Hrothgar such as GNB quest and the MSQ related relic quest yet having Viera do nothing of import (Viera, oddly enough, are not running the show for the Dnc quest ... which is strange for a new race seeing how Drk and Gnb were treated. They are promoted as Dncs but they are not in the Dnc quest line cause the Viera seem to have nothing to do with the lore of this expac).

With this in mind this animosity towards Hrothgar for hampering Viera hair makes no seeing as ... if Viera were first and Hrothgar were added "last min" they would have to "cuck" Viera hair after the fact to be even-stevens with Hrothgar as both technically have 8 hair styles and 8 "alternate" versions of them.

I looked at female Ronso and the Queen art, it seems like Hrothgar females do not have "manes" just like female Ronso do not have the long manes of the males (like lions). But the Female Ronso do have short hair. I often times wonder how the "fur" on them would work cause Male Hrothgar Fur is very ... male in design (Upper back/ Fore-arms/ Chest/ Lower legs) and the amount of over all body customization is the reason YP said they hit their memory limit for the models and couldn't even allow the tips of the Hrothgar tails to change from black.

Came to the conclusion that Viera are how Female Hrothgar would have worked, in that they would have had 8 hair styles (be them short hair or "wigs") and 8 alts/ bangs versions were as the males would have manes. Instead of the game dumping memory into the fur + fur patterns they just have a few patterns without the fur parts or maybe just patterns on the tail. IMO, looking at everything in this game, I find the thought that the devs would sac the animal-like body hair in favor of a limited hair system for the females to make sense.

So yeah, in short I think Viera have such limited hair cause that's the system they would have had for Female Hrothgar who they were planning on before deciding to do them. Where they either had 8 hair or "wig" styles and 8 that were slightly different with maybe some patterns they could pick without furry parts. Males would have been stuck with the Manes but could have the body fur.

Even in the state they are in viera was a wise choice. I don't know who would go crazy for bald female hrothgar. Already being quite masculine, they would be extremely unpopular. Still, viera are reduced to such a state, they should AT LEAST have more hairs to choose from.

Hopefully the next expac alleviates this, and perhaps some hats get support (for both). Granted, I would want the hats to be quality, as in actual earholes or something. Rather than clipping trash. Though considering the most popular miqo'te get no earholes anymore, I really doubt it - and they don't have multiple sets of ears to choose from. Always will hold out hope regardless. Honestly I wouldn't mind if viera/hrothgar got like unique models for select headgear, that would be cool if it could happen. Better than nothing that's for sure. I suppose some witch hats could cut off the ears, and get away with it.

I don't think at least one of the hairstyles being bald sound bad tbh, after all face 1 is a lion, so it'd made sense its female counterpart is bald - imagine a bald femhroth mnk with big dangling or hoop earrings going Cheetah on people. I'd be up for it lol
