I'd honestly rather them fire the voice actor/actress for the Warrior of Light...They came up to the plate and failed to record any of their voice lines. I can't tell you how many cutscenes my character just stands there nodding in.

I don't see what the issue is. I didn't like the VA but it's a mi or character at best. Who cares. And asking that person to get fired? Honestly. Do you have no real issues in life?

Since the entire Kobold race appears to have acquired a 'BBC announcer voice', kobold children will, of course, sound like Oliver.

I'm not asking for top tier voice work, just better than this garbage we were given. Again, probably 80% of you in this thread could've done a better job.

To those who wanted screeching, why would you be expecting that when the Kobalds of the first didn't? Or did you forget that the Mords are what Kobalds are called?

I thought about that and figured "well they actually hang around the human-like races." When you move to another country that has a different accent to yours, you tend to mimic that accent subconsciously (like you're subconsciously trying to fit in). That's the excuse I'm going for, even if that wasn't SE's intention at all.

For the kobolds on the Source, though, they don't intentionally hang around the human-like races due to how badly they've been treated over the years. I kinda expected them to have their own unique accent. Ga Bu also may have been around human-like races for a time during ShB, but he would have to sound/talk more like a pirate.

I wish there was a wider array of different affectations/accents in the voice overs but the delivery in the scenes in question for this thread seemed to track with the voices on the first because that's how SE wants Kobolds to sound like just like how everyone from the nobility regardless of City-state sounds the same (cuz they're the learned class of citizens) and how commoners all sound the same (which for me doesn't make AS much sense since we do see refugees from other city states and you'd think they'd sound a bit different as the commoners class isn't supposed to be as monolithic [at least in my view?]) but hopefully going forward they can diversify the voices of the cast. I'm not saying American accents or anything (unless it's required demonstrate how distinct and different the character is) but I hope they don't keep on the same track either because it will risk supporting character's voices just becoming the audio equivalent of an amorphous blob (which they already are mechanically speaking they simply move the plot forward but i worry if it becomes to "one note" it'll become apparent and could pull people out of the experience). Hopefully going forward we as players can see a diversity of characters and hear a diversity of voices in the stories yet to unfold.

I think the voice is fine, but with the way Kobolds talk, I feel like the performance should've been quicker and more skittish. It feels like Kobolds should talk really fast & hurried, which is why the slow line delivery caught me off-guard.

Lmaooooo, yeah, I'm very sure the voices would fit better for other roles, but when looking at a Kobold, especially a young one, I'm not expecting the voice of yet another English accent.

The Kobolds are a differing tribe & species, no? Culturally, what sense would it make for Kobolds to sound exactly like man, English accent & all? Lets not forget the Kobolds being written to despise & avoid man.

I mean, I know Kobolds in FFXIV are different from Kobolds in other media, but I have this idea and expectation of what a Kobold should sound like because of the way they talk in other media. Be it Warcraft or various Dungeons and Dragons games, they sound similar. What they sound like in FFXIV is nothing like that and obviously they are different and Square-Enix can make their Kobolds sound however they want, but I was expecting something wildly different and it was disappointing and awful and I hope we never have voiced Kobolds in FFXIV ever again.
