Please just never voice beastmen. It never works out.

I didn't mined it. People get too worked up over things so small.

A child, yes, but they still sounded way too human for being a beastman. And honestly, it was awful acting otherwise, at least in my opinion. I may very well end up switching to Japanese audio at this point. Still undecided. Just the thought of hearing Ga Bu in english even one more time makes me cringe. He actually made everything I heard in PSO2 sound like art, and that's saying something.

This has to be one of the stupidest requests I've ever heard. Seriously, fire two people because a small group of individuals didn't like a voice? This is entitled idiocy at its finest. During a pandemic no less. Square Enix are in charge of this game and what they choose goes. You can't demand things like someones livelihood be taken away from them because they hired someone you don't like. That is awful and you should be ashamed of yourself. I happen to like Ga Bu's voice and even if the quality of the voice wasn't the best its the best Square Enix could do in this current situation. But demanding the termination of two peoples livelihood in this time...shame sir. For shame! I for one agree with everyone else that you should play the game in another audio representation or not play at all.

Oh I agree, the premise for this thread wasn't good. I don't think anyone should lose their jobs over this. However, I do think that they could have done it differently and presented the character a lot better. Not the...whiny little child that was the end result. He didn't even sound like a kobold! This has to be one of the stupidest requests I've ever heard. Seriously, fire two people because a small group of individuals didn't like a voice? Too real, so true! 100%
Somehow, I highly doubt that.
I was agreeing with the covid excuse statement - not the rest.

Huh? That is how I feel, though. I've actively complained about the usage of the Covid excuse multiple times.
Are you being sarcastic? Because I have no idea what you mean by this reply. Sorry, for agreeing with you.. I guess. Wow. Guess I should have read the room.

Too late now. I didn't read the room properly, so I wasn't prepared for that kind of reply. Soured my mood. That is enough for me to actually take a good look at the topic, instead of skimming through, and liking a portion. The like you had was mine, I unliked it (not that it matters).
The quality of voice acting is subjective for one, and two, based on all of the previous work in this game, this is nothing new (not due to covid). Go ahead and mute your game, nobody cares! Ga Bu had about 5 lines of dialogue, and we will probably barely (if ever) hear from him again. It doesn't matter. Maybe they thought a child's voice would fit the role better, in it's more emotional tone, rather than some cartoonish voice, that some may perceive is a requirement for all Kobolds to have. I'm done here.

To those who wanted screeching, why would you be expecting that when the Kobalds of the first didn't? Or did you forget that the Mords are what Kobalds are called?
To the OP, the reason why we bring up Covid as the probable reason as it most likely was recorded during the transition phase. They do most of the work for these patches months beforehand. Don't believe me? Go listen to Alphinaud from 5.0-5.3. He sounds the same, throughout all of that. Now go over some of his lines during 5.4 and you can tell there's a slight difference. Is it as noticeable as Cid and Nero? No, but even for someone like me who listens to the JP voices to the point I'm not normally used to hearing some of the English VAs it came off a little well off. Yet I know that most of the time someone like Cid is supposed to be sounding more like Obi-Wan than what we got this patch due to watching other people's play throughs with the English VAs.
