We definitely need more dresser space and it would be great if they'd let us put mog station stuff in the armoire too, since we currently pay real money and inventory slots for it.

I think you'd end up with the player base in a big argument over whether they want just appearances stored so capacity could be increased, or whether they want the system to remain as it is where an actual item is stored and can be removed to equip again.

No more extra space!
It's only a bandaid solution. What they should do is to implement glamour log found in other games like WoW, GW2, ESO.
Adding space for a glamour log would actually take significantly less storage than the extra inventory slots we got.

I suspect the argument some folks might have against a glamour log is that, right now, if you have a specific piece of gear you always dye a specific (potentially expensive) color, you can dye the gear and put it into the glamour dresser, and then the dye is just preserved any time you put the time onto a glamour plate. Like, say, how I have the Replica Sky Pirate's Boots of Aiming dyed jet black like 75% of the time that I use them; as a result, I dyed them jet black and put them in the glamour dresser that way, so I don't have to use a dye every time I use them on a glamour plate (unless it's that 25% of the time I want to use them in a different color).
Whereas if it were just a glamour log where it was a simple achievement, you'd have the ability to pick any piece of gear that had passed through your hands... but it would presumably be the default color, and force you to burn a dye again each time you stuck it onto a glamour plate.
Personally, as someone who has a Serious Glamour Inventory Problem (send help), I really do wish we had a glamour log system, and I'd put up with the inconvenience on the dye side of things. But I can also see places where some folks would find it disruptive to how they handle their glamour.
(And "just let people pick any color and do away with consumable dye so it doesn't matter" is, I suspect, not a thing that would fly given that they sell some of the more obnoxious-to-obtain dyes on the Mogstation.)
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

I think the best solution would be to have both options available. I don't see any reason for them to overhaul the glamour dresser or get rid of it. That itself would probably take more time than adding the glamour log would.I suspect the argument some folks might have against a glamour log is that, right now, if you have a specific piece of gear you always dye a specific (potentially expensive) color, you can dye the gear and put it into the glamour dresser, and then the dye is just preserved any time you put the time onto a glamour plate. Apparently there aren't actually assigned spaces for key items like there are for permanent inventory. It's just a weird quirk of how the inventory UI is laid out. I don't really understand why they need to do it that way since I don't think you can take enough quests at once to fill more than a page, but anyway, they're not potential inventory slots waiting to be freed up for general use even if they look like it.
I completely agree that we should have mog station items going into the armoire and I've been saying that since HW when I started buying from mog station. I also agree with the people who say adding more glam dresser spots is a temporary fix. I suspect SE might have some technical issues they have to overcome (let's all remember this game is built on 1.0 "spaghetti code"). Thus, I propose a three prong approach for dealing with the ever present issue that will allow some short term fixes that help the community now and improve it for the future.
#1 - Make mog station and other in game items (rewards from main story, log quests, job sets, etc) immediately available to go to the armoire. That frees up space immediately and there is already some precedent for some items of these types to go in there, so make it applicable across the board.
#2 - As a short term fix, increase the glam dresser spots and plates again. This will at least for the short term allow more pieces to be used to somewhat keep up with demand as more glam pieces are introduced.
#3 - Investigate and come up with a longer term solution. If that's some sort of book like WoW players seem to talk about or converting the glam dresser to somehow not have limits on space, or some other solution that allows a player to put as many pieces of glam into it as they wish while not taxing the servers and game itself.
I have a feeling SE is already somewhere in the stages of a plan like this, but if they aren't, they really should think about it. Glam is as the community says, "the true end game" and it's really true. Hell, there's even mini-games based on it (fashion report). Therefore, while this may not seem as important as delivering new content every 3-4 months, it is something that does need to be solved for the long term health of the game.

An update to the glamour inventory system should really be priority #1 for quality of life improvements upon next expansion's release. At that point we'll have had FIVE (counting ARR) expansions to the game, and each expansion individually adds enough glamourable items to completely fill up the glamour dresser. Just increasing the item cap from 400-500 does not cut it.
They should absolutely revamp the glamour system into a "glamour tab" that simply unlocks the appearances of all spiritbound items for use as glamour. If dyeing items is an issue for this, find some solution for it, even if it's as simple as keeping the glamour dresser as-is for use with dyes, or revamping the dye system as well somehow. Whatever the answer the dresser as it currently stands is simply unsustainable as more expansions are released and more and more players join the game and have specific item IDs saved in the dresser, it must be an absolute killer on storage space over time.
And if it's a money issue relating to retainers, just make that up with selling more mogstation items that people will now have space for, or dyes which could be made more valuable through having to use them more often if items aren't saved with them on if you undo your glamour. Whichever it is, there needs to be a major update on this front.

For example, in my glamour dresser I have three copies of the Chimerical Felt Skirt, all dyed different colors for different glams.
If they did ever add a glamour log I'd hope that they'd give some thought how it'd work with saving dyes.
