They should redo FFXI in the FFXIV engine, And release it as a co-op local LAN game vs an online server game.
Increase EXP by 200% again. Increase drop rates to mini of 10%

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

Why are you grinding them for so long?
Are the drop / spawn rates that bad or what? (I never played 11)

Maybe that's what the mobile game was gonna be. Either way, it sounds good to me.
But... if they did this would those people be able to play on the same network / servers of the original FF11
I feel adding to that community and not creating a new space for the new interested players would be an important move.

Mobile gaming is a scourge on the entire industry.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Mobile gaming itself is good. The issue is that it's infested with F2P Fremium garbage with a f***k load of copy-pasted games. There are good games for phones, saddly, they are all buried in an ocean of garbage; garbage that many people "play" because it's "free"

Damn, i really miss Dead Space for mobiles. That game was good

Some free mobile games are also really generous with freemium currency and benefit from a very large F2P playerbase too because of it. One of the regular ones I play, Tales of the Rays (JP only), gives 10 diamonds (freemium) daily for doing your daily quests. You get 4 more for each stage of a new event/chapter, plus more for logging in for a full week. A 10x pull is 200 dia and just gets you skills or Mirrage Artes, characters you unlock just from finishing chapters/events (though pulling a 5* or a Mystic Arte unlocks them instantly). It's very common to end up with around 400-600 dia by the end of every new chapter/event, and multiple (around 10) event tickets that let you pull a single from the banner for free for each ticket spent. Helps that the game plays like a traditional Tales game, and they have over 170 playable characters in it (including original characters and characters never before playable).

I uhh...got addicted to mobile gaming a bit because of that one.

But it's not like Nexon was gonna make FF11 into a freemium game, right?
Though after SQEX greenlit All The Bravest I'm never sure what to expect.

I feel adding to that community and not creating a new space for the new interested players would be an important move.
In FFXI it revolved around guild content.

So you had a guild of 50-60 ppl typically in an upper endgame focused group back in the prime of the game. So it was not a party of 8 you were gearing but a group of 50+.

Example from World Bosses: The top drop from say King Behemoth a BIS ring for tanks had a 2% drop rate on a boss that spawned once every 3+ days. Could be 3 could be over a week. NQ boss and HQ boss with no drop you sold the gear/crafting mats to other players. And bought crafted endgame items with it, relic currency, or expensive situational gear like Krakens Club (Combine with drk's 2hr ability to do around 6k dmg per second.. highest dmg burst in the game)

In Sky you had a boss that was a tiered spawn. The top tier boss would drop a few pieces of gear out of the loot pool. You typically would spend 2-3 days farming tier 1 nms, 1 day killing tier 2 pops, and 1 day killing multiple Kirins (Tier 3). So in that 1 week of time basically you got say 8 drops. It was like this in alot of content.

Now the key to FFXI's longevity though is the following:

    1) It was like ffxiv you can play everything on 1 character
    2) There was no true BIS gear besides relic weapons. For rdm for example. I had 11 BIS weapons, 4 BIS bodies, a BIS shield, 2 BIS hats, 3 BIS gloves, 4 BIS pants, 4 BIS sets of rings, 12 neck peices, 4 BIS sets of earrings, 7 back slot armors, 5 belts, a bow, 2 throwing items. NOw it is like this for almost every job. So unlike FFXIV where you have a BIS set of 12 pieces for rdm in FFXI you needed 60ish pieces. Basically you needed a set to optimize each aspect of the job. RDM tank you needed emnity, spell speed, and haste. Rdm Heal you needed healing set. Rdm enfeeble you needed alot depending on the spells elemental affinity.
    3) Not everything dropped BIS gear for everyone. So that week in sky above only dropped BIS for some jobs. Other content that took just as long drop BIS for other jobs. So most people did a rotation to get everyone geared.
    4) Pugging and soloing was simply not an option as organized guilds would be able to monopolize the world over you. Most the competition was first claim gets all. So you had to join a guild which means you had to gear up alot of people.

So for example. Me with bst, blm, whm, rdm, sch, mnk, I needed nearly 360 BIS items. ON average since you are in a guild with many people needing the same thing. That equates to over 20,000 hours of playtime.(not exaggerating). I played for 21,500ish hours before quitting the game due to them drastically changing it with abysea. And I still was not even close to being fully geared. And this was in the top guild on the server claiming the majority of world bosses and doing 60hrs a week of guild events.

    Holy shit... that sounds intense.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it

Goddamn though, that's literally like having 2 and a half jobs. How did you hold up through all that?
Also, R.I.P. anyone not in your guild lol.

But damn, if this game is that much of a time sink, I can see why they were interested in making a version you could play portably.
I wonder if there's not some way they could salvage this project.

I had many a night where I set my alarm for 2AM to kill a world boss, if it did not spawn went to sleep and set it for 2:30, then 3:00 as so on until it spawned. Spawns could happen every 30mins, 21-24 hrs from the time of the world bosses last death.

Also took my laptop to college with me. I sat in the back of class for a reason lol. Was me playing FFXI and several ppl playing wow. Think the sleep deprivation and running a guild back then is part of the reason I had grey hair at 24, and a whole lot now. I was defiantly "Neck Bearding" it in college. Woke up on weekends at 8am to play... ate microwave meals at the computer, had the whole mini fridge next to me (with the microwave on top of it), and went to sleep at midnight. Gogo living on scholarships and government grants.

As for the guild. FFXI rewarded guild building and organization. All top guilds had websites, voice chat, detailed guild banks, lotting systems, and well defined organizational structure in guild management. It was easy to see the difference between a casual and endgame guild or a guild with good guild management vs bad. I really miss the days of it honestly. It was sorta like a 2nd job but I loved it... I even made weekly operation reports and monthly financial statements showing goals, targets, where all the money went, and future spending projects. Most servers had 4-6 guilds that I would call top tier endgame focused that did this. Then you had 100s of casual, semi casual, and specific event focused guilds.I really wish SE would of gave guilds a real purpose in ffxiv outside a glorified chat channel and RP. Guilds are one of the biggest weaknesses in ffxiv currently.

All this is why a mobile version would have the assets from FFXI but it would not be FFXI, it is impossible to make ffxi on mobile due the platform limitations and playerbase expectations on the platform. Mobile games are all about quick burst of play, easy in and out, quick rewards, and simplicity. It is as far away from what ffxi was as you can get.

I think if they want to make a mobile ff game. It should be its own thing specifically designed to work with the platform. I honestly think it could work, but they should NOT adapt any mmo to mobile. The genre and platform do not mix at all. Even current "Mobile MMOS" are not really mmos when you look at what a mmos had traditionally include and focus on. A solid CO-OP FF mobile game I could see making big bucks and being a fun solid gaming experience.
