Vaguely related given Eden spoilers, but a lot of people compare Mitron to an abusive ex-boyfriend and for some reason, I got more of a sibling vibe. Have I lost my mind?

I guess it could be interpreted both ways. The "close friends" vibe is the one I got though. Ascians aren't usually seen bonding like this, though it's obvious they could through Emet's recreation of Amaurot. The ones we've seen, at least for the most part, seem to view each other as a means to an end and nothing more. Emet and Elidibus are the ones that really showed some depth to their characters up until Eden's Promise that wasn't "lol we will kill you all".

I saw them as really close friends by the end, now if we see them again in the future and they said they'd started a relationship, I'd totally believe it, but I don't think it's where they are at the end of Eden, it would feel rushed, more so with Gaia's memories being damaged. Eden seemingly takes place over a relatively short time, it would feel strange to them to go from: just met > at odds > just come around > close friends > suddenly in love. To me it ends at close friends where we last see them.
I'd imagine roughly 100 years in complete isolation with your consciousness trapped inside a Sin Eater, and abandoned by your peers besides, messes with the mind something fierce. Not that I'm defending him or anything, but it's not hard to see why he might have lost more than a few marbles. The guy had it pretty rough to say the least.
As far as the original Mitron and Loghrif go, they were certainly lovers. The raised station Ascians at an indeterminable Rejoining status... were not lovers in the bodies we see them in, at least in that scene, but hey, they went as far as fusing their souls into an Ascian Prime, and I thought that was pretty on the nose. They are soul mates.
So to me, all of Mitron's lines and motivations were justified, though obviously still bad and disdainful of the present again. The storyline redeemed that as quickly as it had doled them out though, with his death scene. Mitron showed little animosity then, and they're setup to find one another again. In some way, in age after age, forever. The romantic aspect of it is there, but like sexuality, this story pairing transcends that. Mitron and Loghrif have a love that has persisted across a thousand, thousand lifetimes.
It's very poignant, and it makes the premise of Ryne x Gaia as lovers seem shallow by comparison.

After completing Eden, my view on them hasn't changed at all other than observing that the two have become close to the point of strong emotional attachment. I'm an older player though, and I just remember when it was perfectly normal for two girls to behave and interact with each other in the way that they do without a second thought about them being gay; they were just being girls.
I'm not naïve, and understand how someone can think there is an attraction there. I want to fault the modern age, but then I think about relationships in books and songs have been misinterpreted, or done differently pretty much as long as they've been around. Sometimes people see/hear what they want to, and it isn't uncommon for storytellers to leave it up to the viewer to find a placement in something they leave ambiguous.
Where I leave things is that Ryne and Gaia have a developing relationship. It could become romantic, it could become a sisterhood, remain close friends, they could even drift apart as they become adults as what happens to many teens.
I'm not sure I agree that being soulmates is a requirement for an Ascian Prime fusion, or else there should be a lot more Lahabrea/Igeyohrm shippers out there than I'm aware of.As far as the original Mitron and Loghrif go, they were certainly lovers. I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

A requirement, we don't know. There's nothing explicitly stated within the game about it, but I assume some affinity for each other is kind of necessary. Otherwise you'd think the Convocation would seek out anyone with Ancient souls for the fusion in order to gain more power, because we are shown that the fusion can be forced, whether one partner is even aware they can do it or not.
As far as shipping Igeyorhm and Lahabread goes... well, Igeyorhm didn't get enough shared screentime with Lahabread, and we never got to see either of their faces so... people's minds are more on Lahabread's red speedo than that, since they looked'em up in the dats.
