As far as the original Mitron and Loghrif go, they were certainly lovers. The raised station Ascians at an indeterminable Rejoining status... were not lovers in the bodies we see them in, at least in that scene, but hey, they went as far as fusing their souls into an Ascian Prime, and I thought that was pretty on the nose. They are soul mates.

So to me, all of Mitron's lines and motivations were justified, though obviously still bad and disdainful of the present again. The storyline redeemed that as quickly as it had doled them out though, with his death scene. Mitron showed little animosity then, and they're setup to find one another again. In some way, in age after age, forever. The romantic aspect of it is there, but like sexuality, this story pairing transcends that. Mitron and Loghrif have a love that has persisted across a thousand, thousand lifetimes.

It's very poignant, and it makes the premise of Ryne x Gaia as lovers seem shallow by comparison.

I'm not sure I agree that being soulmates is a requirement for an Ascian Prime fusion, or else there should be a lot more Lahabrea/Igeyohrm shippers out there than I'm aware of.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

A requirement, we don't know. There's nothing explicitly stated within the game about it, but I assume some affinity for each other is kind of necessary. Otherwise you'd think the Convocation would seek out anyone with Ancient souls for the fusion in order to gain more power, because we are shown that the fusion can be forced, whether one partner is even aware they can do it or not.

As far as shipping Igeyorhm and Lahabread goes... well, Igeyorhm didn't get enough shared screentime with Lahabread, and we never got to see either of their faces so... people's minds are more on Lahabread's red speedo than that, since they looked'em up in the dats.
