Yes, you are right, because now you will have no friends list, your second largest linkshell is moving to a different server than your largest linkshell and you will never see your longtime friends that took a break and will be forced to migrate to many different servers.

To Ffxiv players: It's not rocket science. There will always be pros and cons to a merger.

However, just like *yoshi so kindly explained* for those the comprehension challenged amongst us all: The option they chose for merging servers is the best.

Why?

It allows *the community* to decide where they want to go. Or if you just don't care you can let them auto pick a world for you.

In all honesty, ppl that have an issue with this are either immensely slow in the mental department or too lazy to ask their "friends" to decide on a world they can migrate too.

Seriously looks like a mass crowd panicking. Of course when you're afraid or angry you forget to rationalize and start lashing out at the source of your confusion.

Its so simple:
- start talking to all your buddies about what server you wish to go to.

- once you have a plan then just await the time when you can put your options in.

For ppl complaining about big LSes getting shafted: you seriously think every person in your LS is your "super close" buddy? If they decide to roll out to another server instead of the one you all agreed on do you really think they cared all that much? You might have just been a nice friend that helped them get what they wanted ocassionally.

Everyone bitching is seriously making this too big of a deal.

SE is giving you options, so stop crying and start planning!

Wow what a damn good producer. I was ecstatic with the announcement and how it was gonna be implemented. I'm not gonna reiterate every thing Mr. Yoshida said; The chosen option is extremely fair and makes since. Active players with friends have plenty of time to choose a server together, period. I'm grateful he took the time to explain it to everyone. It shows how much the dev team cares and the work they put into creating the best solution.

The community obviously tends to have a whiny reputation, especially when the dev team makes announcements or they release their hard work; but those usual complainers still got a thorough, fair, logical explanation. For those people, try re-reading it again and coming to your senses. If that doesn't help, cya on the brand new, engaging, diverse, balanced servers!

You know what else allows *the community* to decide where they want to go? Option 2. But wait! There's also a recommended server! I guess that means all your linkshells and friends have a place they can default to instead of these 10 completely random servers we're so lucky to choose

When I asked for a merge (I actually don't think I have on this site) I expected something along the lines of a typical MMO merge. Not something that completely ignores the effectiveness of server merges in most MMO's in the past.
