On the one hand, given the WoL's history as an Amaurotian and different incarnations as both genders over the millennia, 'they' makes quite a bit of sense from an RP perspective - RL politics aside. Especially in 6.0-onward, when we're fully aware of our history.

On the other, with Fantasias apparently being in-canon things and not really all that expensive - I'm not convinced that transgenderism would really be a thing in Eorzea. Or rather, that it *would* be a thing (and probably much more pervasive than on Earth to boot, since anyone 'questioning' could just buy two and switch back if unhappy) - but using a 'he'/'she' pronoun the opposite of the physical body would be really strange, since it's very simple to just change the physical body instead.

Even accounting for the fact that FFXIV supposedly has a lot of LGBT players, I find it fascinating how often there's a creepy push for it to be considered to be a hive mind. It isn't - but the most vocal with a chip atop their shoulders are desperate to pretend it is.

Painting people as 'undesirables' for not being in full agreement with complicated issues is pretty abhorrent. Especially when it ignores the fact that at least some of those speaking out - myself included - are among the LGBT players themselves.

Is the player info not an option? :c Or is this a thing where you want the game itself to cater to you on this thing? Cause if it's the later then what you're asking for is a major bit of work load in a time where we're already facing many delays cause of Tom Clancey's The Division for such a little bit of pay off that it's really not worth it.

I forget the quest but yeah fantas are canon ingame items NPCs can buy and use. SE makes damn near everything canon so it's no shock to me honestly.

Fantasias aren't canon and are a meta item with required flavor text because everything in this game needs flavor text. And even if they were canon, said flavor text suggests that they're a legendary item, which would lead to the conclusion that they'd be inordinately expensive not cheap.

I suspect it might have something to do with the fact that the term 'bigoted' and similar phrases are thrown around so often that they have, on many fronts, lost all meaning.

To say nothing of the fact that many of us recognise that this is, at the end of the day, a video game and not a particularly suitable venue to bring up real world issues every five minutes - which is precisely what some posters seek to do based on their historical contributions to the forum and/or snarky forum signatures.

Please, defend a comment that is both racist against Japanese people by implying they're all transphobic (plus erases the existence of transgender, x-gender and non-binary Japanese people) and transphobic by implying all trans people are mentally ill. That's the comment that had double-digit likes that I'm talking about. I don't think it's "overusing bigoted" to call a comment like that bigoted.
