Yup. The story can be watched at the inn room. I'm not wasting my time walking back and forth to the same 4 NPCs. There's a TON of things to do in this game, tons of unlock quests and other mandatory things I'd like to get done this century.

No. I have, however, bought job potions and used those to boost myself sufficiently ahead so that I may solo my way through story and raise 2 to 3 other jobs beside.
Why I okay MMORPG to avoid people? I cannot really say, but I have enjoyed my lonely journey through MSQ.
I give FFXIV that the story is solid and certainly fascinating. I read about it and mull over the story and obscure bits of lore enough to be about up to date with any other casual player. But I am also cutscene skipper, and only occasional text cruncher. I genuinely think I enjoy this story better, when it is mostly second-hand experience for me. I'm not saying I am the only one who ever felt like this about FFXIV, but yeah. Haven't met too many who enjoy the story this way.
Don't skip! That is too much exp to be thrown away.
I don't know if it's been changed in the five years since I stopped playing, but I distinctly recall that back then you couldn't even get off your starter planet before completing the four quests for your class there. And then you had to complete another four class quests on your capital planet to get your spaceship. After that I think you were able to fly to any planet, but I'm not sure if any of the planet quests or flashpoint (= dungeon) unlocks were available without advancing your class story. And many of the flashpoints were locked behind mini-storylines of their own. In any case you'd have to be stupid to not do the class quests (unless you went for the paid level skip option) since at some point they changed them to give enough experience points that you didn't need to do anything else to level up.
We're talking star wars the old republic right? Just making sure cause I think there was two star wars mmo? I played SWTOR within the last 2 or 3 years? It wasn't really long but I remember my friend telling me what to do and it didn't have much to do with questing.
Are we still talking XIV here? I didn't play SWTOR to even remember/deal with level skips in that game.In any case you'd have to be stupid to not do the class quests
Both of those related to Star Wars: The Old Republic. The other Star Wars MMO you're thinking of is probably the earlier Star Wars Galaxies, which was a more open sandbox type thing. I started playing SW:TOR in 2012 and, looking at the OTP emails, the last time I logged on was in August 2016. I don't know what has changed since then. If you didn't do quests I'm kinda curious about how you got off your starter planet? Did you ever do any flashpoints or raids? We're talking star wars the old republic right? When I say I didn't play long, I literally mean like 2 days at MOST lol. It wasn't a game I was interested in, I was just playing it because my friend asked me to. I could actually be wrong, I just want to clarify me saying "I don't remember" doesn't mean it didn't happen, just that I honestly don't remember.
All right, with that little playtime it's possible you never did get off your starter planet if you tried to level up by just killing enemies. Or if you weren't interested in the story, maybe you just skipped all the cutscenes. Which would certainly make the game seem bland and uninteresting. Being a Bioware game, its main selling point (aside from being an Star Wars MMO) was the story. It has voice acting and motion captured animations in every cutscene. Your character has a voice and in most cases you get to pick your own lines from two or three options. What you say affects how the NPCs respond too, though the overall course of the conversation rarely changes, and the story will arrive at the same conclusion regardless of your choices. No other MMO I've played or heard of gets even close to SW:TOR when it comes to storytelling. FFXIV's story is good but many cutscenes lack voice acting and use stock emotes which often ends up looking slightly stiff and unnatural. When I say I didn't play long, I literally mean like 2 days at MOST lol. Hey guys, an update.
I did my first few dungeons with my FC and I enjoy them now. I’m still hanging onto my idea of MSQ skip, cause it really enhanced my enjoyment.
I just find it fun to have everything unlocked and picking my own goals. I love finding out things myself which the skip is amazing for.
Don't have to worry in SWTOR they have story skips and level boosts too, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure they gave me a free one I used for a powertech a few years ago. I played that game for PvP for years, but all they would update was Huttball.

Can't fault people for wanting to skip story when you went to that snow land, there is a captain in the room, you go out and click the door man outside, ran back in and click the captain, ran out to click the same door man, then back to the captain, ran out to click another npc, went back to the same captain.
at that time i almost want to read the script to see what kind of words they could put in to this epic story to justify having me doing all that, and how long do have I have to keep clicking on these people!
