Anyone else used Scenario skip on their first character?

Just curious. I got one as soon as I bought FFXIV on steam. Worth every penny, I love exploring the whole map and doing endgame quests and activities from the get-go.

I have no interest in the story and when I was doing the MSQ on PS4 a few years ago I got sick of it after 10 hours. I put more than that in a day when I recently bought FFXIV and Shadowbringers on Steam with Scenario Skip. I’m enjoying it so much more and love learning new things myself than being handheld for 150+ hours.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

More power to you friend but I find the MSQ bloody tedious and can’t stand dungeons/raids. I’m playing FFXIV as another lifestyle and it does all of it superbly, scenario skip is a blessing in this case.

Nope, and I discourage anyone from doing it. FF14 main selling point is the story. If you're only here for end game content, you're gonna find yourself bored quickly.

Funnily enough I can’t think of another MMO that does what I enjoy better than FFXIV. Tried BDO, WoW and GW2 but FFXIV is the only one that excites me to play, even without doing story.

Not everyone is the same, but most people I've talked to really enjoyed the story, especially after the ARR grind that used to be.

They did very recently (i.e. patch 5.3) compact some of the worst stuff in MSQ. I'm not saying you absolutely have to, but I would like to suggest running an alt through the story at a leisurely pace at some point to give it a second chance.

If you can't get past the horrific ARR or overhyped Heavensward (and can afford it) a story skip is probably pretty good for you. You can always go back on an alt and experience it later on without being roadblocked by it on your main for 100 hours or whatever.

No, the story is a good bulk of the content and if I wanted to play a game JUST for it's end-game then there are numerous better options on the market. That said you do you. It's your money, I'm not going to tell you how to spend it.

All good. Black Desert was great for that but I just like the fashion and art style of FFXIV much more. And it’s a fun world to explore.

Don't worry about them. The usual comeback is "go play something else" if you ever decide to criticize this game, especially it's story. Just because you don't like one aspect of the game, doesn't mean you cannot or don't like other aspects.

I couldn't get a friend to keep playing this game because of the story roadblocking them. They had to go through tens of hours of story to actually play the game with me, and they got burned out and decided to quit. I made a thread about it too, people here told me my friend was made up and I should "go play something else".
