What are you referring to with marvel and disney? Since you didn't specify the last thing I can remember by marvel as far as dark skin characters go Black Panther broke several records.

Disney; Look at the new Star Wars. New POC character: Comic Relief. New lead female: Mary Sue that basically nullifies everything known about the force and Jedi. New famale military commander: probably the least military like and worst military decision maker I've seen when it comes to ones that are supposed to be good at it. You can also look at Mulan who did it so poorly even the Chinese found it atrocious.

Marvel: Riri Williams: lets replace Iron man with teenager who is somehow smarter than Stark who literally defeats an entire nation herself. America Chavez: Lets make an overpowered minority and steal Captain America's most iconic scene (perhaps the most iconic scene in comic history). The atrocity that they turn Carol Danvers into. Their habit of ignoring already present minority characters that they could enhance and promote in order to shoe in new minority characters.

I'm flattered that I stand out, though I do believe you're mistaken. Perhaps the thread became too fast moving and heated to keep track of properly? It happens.

Either way, I'm not American and generally don't concern myself with issues that are American focused. I did raise an eyebrow in response to the donation, though I also operate on the assumption that big businesses only donate to such causes in the first place because it scores them points with journalists/social media users. Not to mention it can earn tax write offs in certain countries, but that's getting into territory that isn't appropriate to chat about on a forum such as this.

1. Except Fin had no powers and was reduced from a potentially baddass former Storm Trooper, to comedy relief that largely fails at everything. Rei is not dark skinned, neither is the female military commander. Both were horribly written and directed. Phasma another powerful femlae character did nothing in teh films other than get held at gun point and beat by a former janitor that was comedy relief.

2. They didn't outshine them though, hence why Stark was brought back, with Riri taking a backseat. Cap reclaimed his throne, and America Chavez went onto several failed super hero teams.

You assertation that money and over site would prevent terrible writing of things being done for diversity's sake is simply false, and both Marvel and Disney prove that.

No my issue is that they were poorly written or nothing more than token. You are write, it is the fault of the writer trying to shoehorn in diversity based on superficial aspects for diversity's sake. Instead of simply writing a good character

I can't go into your mind, you need to answer that for yourself. Why shouldn't you?

That was a rhetorical question - as was some of my previous post which you misinterpreted, so perhaps they are not going through.

So let me spell it out.

Despite your mistaken impression that I would dislike dark-skinned characters being added, I would not. I do not mind in the slightest. I think it is silly to be offended.

I have - at least I think I have - been saying this all along and I feel like this is over-repeating but you continue to speak to me as if you've assumed I'm against it, and nothing I say is breaking that false impression so here I am saying it again.

When I say "why shouldn't I like them" I don't mean "give me reasons why I shouldn't". I mean that there is no reason why I should like them less than you do.

I feel like this goes hand-in-hand with the attitude that some players have towards games with a fixed protagonist and they object to it being a female character or particular race or just isn't "like them". I've always found that silly and a character is a character - some of the best emotional experiences I've had in videogames are with characters who are nothing like me physically but the story made me identify with them emotionally.
