I'd have no issue with that if it wasn't done because they were pressured to do so and the characters were written for their character rather than skin color.Oh so now you're telling me what I said? You're funny, truly. I said dark skin appeals more to myself and people like myself. The fact that you have a problem with that doesn't reflect well on you.
Of course you don't, or so you'd like people to believe you don't. I don't have a problem if the new characters in the next patches and/or expansions are all pale skin, I'm not sure I can say the very same thing about you if almost all of the new characters are all dark skin.
You seem to be twisting my opinion into the opposite of what I'm meaning.Of course you don't, or so you'd like people to believe you don't. To be clear, I have no objection to a variety of races in the game and I don't know why you are thinking that I'm objecting to them being added. I just don't like the reason being "for marketing" as opposed to storytelling, whether that marketing is targeted at me, you, or whoever.
Why shouldn't I like a character just as much as you do, just because they physically resemble you?

Funny you of all people should mention manufactured outrage, weren't you "voting with your wallet" and unsubbing when SE announced they were giving money to BLM? Or did that sentiment disappear along with the thread?I remember that, yes. It was little more than an attempt to manufacture outrage. You can even look back through the thread and see that none of those who claimed it was terrible thought it was terrible enough to actually take their leave of the game.
Which if a common trend, I've noticed - and often the people who express outrage don't belong to the group they're seeking to 'defend' or, worse yet, they mock and harass those who do belong to that group who say they aren't bothered by the addition of such glamour.
As a gay guy, my experience through life has been that the only homophobia I have encountered has come from 'woke' individuals who get angry the moment I don't allow myself to be a platform for them to profit off of and/or virtue signal over.
You're also assuming the inclusion of darker skin characters could only ever possibly be to pander or virtue signal. Why? Why can't they just be characters that happen to have dark skin?
He definitely quacked like a duck. It's ok theodric, you can come out and express your real feelings about those different from you; you'd actually garner a sliver of some sort of trust or respect.Funny you of all people should mention manufactured outrage, weren't you "voting with your wallet" and unsubbing when SE announced they were giving money to BLM? You don't have to have an issue with it, square enix is a multi million dollar company, they have a high level operations process which ensures artistic integrity isn't broken or handled inappropriately. You don't have to worry by the way, to you skin color means nothing, so there's nothing to worry about if they add multiple dark skin characters in the future.
It's not an either/or choice, marketing benefits as well as those who it appeals to and the game itself. You seem to be narrowly making it a 1 track "purpose."You seem to be twisting my opinion into the opposite of what I'm meaning.

I can't go into your mind, you need to answer that for yourself. Why shouldn't you?Why shouldn't I like a character just as much as you do, just because they physically resemble you?

So was Marvel and Disney, yet their attempts at doing these things have come off flat, shallow, and piss poor. You don't have to have an issue with it, square enix is a multi million dollar company, they have a high level operations process which ensures artistic integrity isn't broken or handled inappropriately. I'm not sure what you're on about. Perhaps you're mistaking me for another poster? If the thread in question has been deleted, then it's not much of a valid point as there's no evidence to support either of our points which risks it turning into a 'he said/she said' situation that I'd rather not indulge.
Please stop implying that anybody who disagrees with you is being discriminatory.

I distinctly remember it was you because I replied to you on that post and you're a rather active and well-known forum poster. For the most part I've always enjoyed your posts so it stuck out to me because you were coming kind of unglued in that thread.
Anyway, it's not like I was taking screenshots so you're right I don't have any 'evidence'.
What are you referring to with marvel and disney? Since you didn't specify the last thing I can remember by marvel as far as dark skin characters go Black Panther broke several records.
I'm flattered that I stand out, though I do believe you're mistaken. Perhaps the thread became too fast moving and heated to keep track of properly? It happens.I distinctly remember it was you because I replied to you on that post and you're a rather active and well-known forum poster. Either way, I'm not American and generally don't concern myself with issues that are American focused. I did raise an eyebrow in response to the donation, though I also operate on the assumption that big businesses only donate to such causes in the first place because it scores them points with journalists/social media users. Not to mention it can earn tax write offs in certain countries, but that's getting into territory that isn't appropriate to chat about on a forum such as this.
troll thread. We have different races already, just because their skin color is not black or purple doesn't mean the game is racist.
