They never promised us Halloween rewards. As far as I've seen, people took a "we are considering" statement months ago as confirmation, and since then "everyone knows" that the Halloween rewards will be added to Make It Rain.

All they ever told us to expect was a return of the Haunted Manor masquerade, and we have that.

I am disappointed at the lack of spoopy rewards this year. But I imagine the FFXIV team can only handle so much considering how this year's been going.

    Nooooooooo!

I am SUPER pissed off about this! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I look forward to it all year!!! I fully decorated my house (plot 29, 2nd ward in Mist on Louisoix EU -- y'all might as well get to see SOME decorations!). If they cancel Starlight, I'm going back to WoW.

We do in Scandinavia as well. They celebrate Halloween in Japan also so that person's comment was just derp. Like they're going to cancel an event they've been doing for many years because it's "distinctly US"? lol OK.

I think it's something of a perception here in Australia that Halloween was imported from the US because it wasn't commonly celebrated (to my awareness) until we saw it in American media and said "hey, that looks fun, why can't we do it too?"

It wasn't a thing at all for me growing up, but I think we're hitting the point where the generation of kids that wanted it to be a thing are now the adults decorating houses and organising trick-or-treating.

That's a pity. I was raised in The States and Halloween was something really special there though it by no means originated there unless you count the Irish who brought it over when they immigrated. Dressing up each year and going from spooky house to house trick-or-treating are some of my fondest childhood memories. Unfortunately, my daughter was kinda robbed of that experience since we decided to raise her in Europe, and that's something I lament, but I would say that celebrating here in Scandinavia wasn't celebrated to the same extent until very recently. I'm seeing more and more houses being decorated and dressed up children and it's just really sweet. As for FFXIV and Japan, Halloween has been a thing for them for a good while now so the lack of an event this year just doesn't have anything to do with its origins.
