I think its rather lame how relics work in this game just because of past complaints

Ilvl 500 weapons too weak?

Take the Edenchoir Fork; that isn't a legendary weapon, but for odd reason its ilvl and stats are higher than the current relic.

You would think the Edenchoir Fork should be called a relic instead.

I just take issue what they call a relic when it apparently its 2nd rate, and especially the current crafting/gathering tools.
