Who is it helping by doing it this way? I'm confused. If we don't, then we at least tried. Was writing these posts really such a burden that I will forever hate myself if we don't succeed? Nope. In fact, I even gained a little bit of insight about what groups this merge is helping. I still don't think they outweigh the losses, but hey.

Please do explain.
Every time the dev. team does something a few people don't like they all make threads with irrational titles full of their concerns which are worded in a manner that no one will take it seriously.
Like this thread.
THEN: When people don't agree with you; you make assumptions about those people. Lable them and then say things like "I even gained a bit of insight about what groups this merge is helping."
What does that even mean?
Your concerns are noted indeed, but don't sit on your high horse and pretend that your concern is more important than anyone's non-concern.
Opinions are equal. "Self-defeatist" or not. *rolls eyes*
Okay so allow server transfers after the straight world merge. You have what you want, and I have what I want.
They are already allowing transfers after the first phase, so there is no reason they can't just do a straight up merge first.
Then there is no forcing people to break up their communities.
I wouldn't mind if they did it that way, but it's probably too much work for such a trivially small community. Especially considering that, at worst, most people really aren't too torn up about it. At best, some are actually pleased with it. Myself included, if the alternative is having no say in where I'm going.Okay so allow server transfers after the straight world merge. I won't argue that point. I made my own thread, it was titled "Server Merge." Sorry if that's over the top for you. Unfortunately, threads with plain titles quickly drop to the bottom, while threads in all-caps, or threads with "HATE," "quitting," and lots of exclamation points quickly become hot topics (albeit quickly off-topic). Speaking of off-topic, I'm pretty far out there myself...

I was referring again to my own thread, where a new player pointed out that he'd been trouble getting into the community because it was already well-established. Scrambling players forces new communities, which gives everyone equal opportunities. I'd never thought of it that way. Nonetheless, I don't think the infux of new/returning players is enough to justify breaking up the community.
I'm sorry if it came off that way, but I don't think my opinion is better than anyone's. I do, however, wonder why the people who are "non-concerned" are bothering to show their lack of concern. I appreciate people that show me new points, because my opinion is only limited to my experience. But I could care less for a post (not referring to yours here) that just says "It's already decided. The end."Your concerns are noted indeed, but don't sit on your high horse and pretend that your concern is more important than anyone's non-concern.

Your only opinion I have seen so far is that you don't think I have a right to mine and should "stop whining" because somehow that bothers you.
How about you post an actual opinion on the subject and then I can respect it. Why are you against regular server merges then transfers?
Non-concern is just as important as concern.I won't argue that point. I made my own thread, it was titled "Server Merge." Sorry if that's over the top for you. It let's the dev. team know that there are people who are OK with this method and perhaps they can keep it this way while focusing elsewhere.
Yoshi-P has said it before: He likes when we debate, even when it gets furious. We all got furious.
I'm not against the normal mergers.Your only opinion I have seen so far is that you don't think I have a right to mine and should "stop whining" because somehow that bothers you.

I am against nonsense every time change is made.

It doesn't give equal opportunity to new players at all though because it isn't a character wipe, people will still fill up servers by transfering in groups causing many new players (and some players who tried to transfer with friends) to be unable to create characters there. New players instead will be funneled into low pop servers. Returning players will also be at a disadvantage because they won't know anyone on their server.

I haven't seen any attempt to justify why they are doing it this way without first doing a regular server merge for those of us who don't want to transfer so that we don't have to scramble to get on the same server as some of our friends.
