    Is this SMN yet ? Is this a summoner from Final Fantasy series? Physicks, for what ?

    Hello... im a expert SMN player ( since FFXI that is my first job and will be forever my top one job) ... but im very fustrated a bit and not playing anymore with this job actually...

    1 - Now we control "ghosts" ... yes... ghost .. i remenber when i played this game first time, i had a "partner" by my side ... protecting me and fighting along .. but now.. we have a translucid collourfull "digital tamagochi" ( sorry but is that the feeling they pass to me now) .... i liked the ideia about manager with me and my summon on battles to keep both alive... now this is not possible anymore...

    2 - ok... changes need to be done sometimes .. SMN is strong yet? yes ( a bit when well played ) but ... considering now we are the main target of enemies ( how i said before, we play with ghost non-targetables) we have only stoneskin from titan to defense ... so why we have Physicks yet ? In almost ending 2020 we still have this skill ... but for nothing .... "cure potency 400" .. based on what ? INT , MND ? because getting less than 1000hp on a cure skill with 400 potency sound ridiculous on end game...

    my sugestion ? after lvl30 (arcanist minimal lvl for become a SMN ) change this skill for something more usefull .... Drain ? maybe ? i remenber we had Drain on Role subskills more usefull than this lacking Physicks ... plz SE ... hear us all SMNs on this game and remove this or change after lvl30 for something more usable .

    Physick heals based on the MND stat. As SMN's MND stat is 275, it shall only heal for 400. Even if it healed for a fair amount, it'd still never see use,.

    Oh ye absolutely physick needs an upgrade. Back when the egis werent ghosts i thought a good idea would be to turn physick into sustain, with the changes to the system though that idea is gone and buried.
    Now i dont think theyll ever change the egi system back to how it was but i do agree i find the "existence" of the egis lacking.
    Like you said before it was a partner it could aggro, it could kill, it could stun to let me escape, it could use its abilities without my input. That to me felt good , i could solo level 60 dragon maps as a level 70 titan, there were countless of times ifrit saved me in eureka , and i had to pay heed about garudas tendecies in HoH.... Those random little accidents made them so much more alive.
    But now, now im controlling a bunch of toddlers who cant do anything without me and some times feel like disobeying me. Even bahamut from being ferocious in stormblood attacking so fast feeling like he wanted the enemy to die, now feels like he barely bothers.

    They really need to put some character in the summons, and i dont mean removal, demifying, or visual upgrades. I mean they need to make what they do reflect their personalities. I know that they arent really actual living beings but they are based from our memory and their aether, garudas laugh is the only thing that exists that can be categorized as such.

    I'm not 100% sure on that, but when I logged into my SMN for the 1st time in Stormblood, the Physick I had in my bars was greyed out, as if it was a removed spell. I had to pull it again from the ability menu, so that leads me to think that it got turned out into a separate Physick. Yet... still scaling with MND?!

    Umm summoning ghosts that did a big magick blast and then disappeared was literally what a FF summoner was. up until FFX/XI, if we were going to be fair about it. What summoner never had however, were egi's, that look kind of awful(matchsticks, chicken nuggets, and infernal abomination chicken), Personally T'd like to see more of the Phoenix like stuff, with less of the convoluted 2 minute wind up, and just more or even less of rotation of the forms. Lets be real about current summoner, its a whack-a-mole button masher. Outside of that, im fine with even longer durations with bahamut/phoenix out, or more summon phases like them in the beginning wind up. Egi's though? Get rid of em.

    The issue is that SMN is kind of in an awkward thematic position in the spectrum, where Egis are not actual pets, but they also didn't go all the way on removing them and centering SMN around just cycles of different Demis.

    In 6.0 I think they just push one way or another. I personally believe that they won't really bother fixing the whole way pets work in XIV due to the convoluted inherited sphagetti code, leading to:
    a) A rework by removing Egis and making SMN cycle through different trances and different Demi summons. I could see something like Ramuh > Shiva > Phoenix > Bahamut. And for extra flavor, the LB3 being Leviathan or the Warring Triad. The old Egis and Carbuncles could all still remain as summoning spells to add them just as cosmetic companions.
    b) Beastmaster becoming a regular job with pets would not work, just like SMN didn't. Instead they would be introduced as a Limited Job at the 90 level cap with the whole beast combat being a category of its own. Basically a pokemon game within. As its level capped maybe you would be able to use it for solo open world play having the option of using your pet instead of a chocobo.

    I guess the question is how do you define a MMO pet? Is HP the make it or break it? The ability for a NPC to target a pet?

    Physick was readjusted in Shadowbringers, so everyone would have needed to put the newer version of the action back on their hotbar. It was given reduced casting time to 1.5sec (I think) plus there are two separate ones for SMN and SCH, despite being exactly the same... except they both scale of MND which seems backwards to continue to leave it on SMN in this case...

    The egis themselves in 2.0, they...functioned, but there was really little reason to use ifrit or titan at max level, unless you were doing solo stuff. The ai was kind of bad, but it functioned, sort of. I c0uld see a BST pet collector or a different spin on BST being somewhat possible, more than not likely ever to be added, but from where summoner in this game started, to where it is now, and the fact that egi glamours last showed up in what...might even be in the tail end of ARR(early HW?), like its pretty obvious to me they are trying to structure summoner away from egi's and more towards the summon cycling as burst/or whatever weird thing you would call these phases in its long rotation. And personally that is fine to me. They didnt/couldnt go the X/XI route with summons, all excuses from the size of those eikons, to probably processing power in instances. or whatever. I think its safer to bet that Summoner will not stand there and control their pet in combat, like X.

    Some MMOs have pets purely for cosmetic purposes. There's not really a unified standard.

    Personally as long as it follows you it's a pet enough for me.
