Literally making money out of thin air, must be nice.

I begin to see what the complaint is..

SE should be a charity and operate at a loss. unfortunately, few businesses in the world can do this and stay afloat, employees want to be paid, bills have to be paid.

as for "thin air", I would not call development costs exactly free. If you feel this way do you or have you ever bought music? bought a book?

According to this site, wich reads out the Lodestone (and mounts are visible to the public), the Chocobo Carriage was sold 27917 times already. At a 36 dollar price tag, that's a million dollar they have already made with this carriage alone. If that is not making money out of thin air...

Just stop trying to compare actually worthless digital goods tied to a subscription of a single game to things like food or other physical goods. It doesn't work, at all. Pointlessly expensive bags still have a bill of materials and manufacturing costs every single item.

Most of the things on the store were already in the game in some form. The only difference from a F2P at this point is that event items are free the first time. The amount of apathy towards this, they could double the subscription and charge for dungeons and it would be accepted.

It's just a luxury, don't complain! -Subscribers to a game that in itself is a luxury.

I'd advise against trying to tell people what they should value their own purchases as. That's a very subjective thing. Especially when you obviously don't know what the development chain within a company is like. Tons of man hours, work by several different teams, all of that is just at the end of the overall process. Those things cost money. Or have you forgotten that behind those materials and manufacturing that there is a common element with that expensive hand bag and something you can buy in game? The human doing the work at acquiring materials, operating the manufacturing machines and building, and the dev team, art team, marketing team, PM, etc. Or have you forgotten that the human behind all those things is getting paid and has a cost associated?

Wouldn't be surprised. Someone who is arrogant enough to dictate (as fact) what the subjective value of something to strangers is probably the same type of person that doesn't see a person behind the Starbucks apron.

Did that touch a nerve? I'm not telling anyone how they should value things. Everything on the Mog Station is objectively worthless. Your subjective feelings about them don't change that. That subjectivity is what drives sales. They're telling you the value and you're determining it's worth. There could easily be more profit at much lower prices but they treat buyers like mobile whales while raking in subscriptions.

Do everyone a favour and stay out of subjects you don't understand if you're going to exaggerate and handwave. Not to mention I already answered this.

You're taking the value of 3d geometry and textures tied to a game awfully seriously with that last one.

Server and intranet costs. Maintenance. Staff costs for the people who write, design, and code. Office costs, real estate and maintenance. There are costs associated with these items.

There is a glut of past seasonal items in the store yes.. but the game has been around for nearly 10 years. .. interesting theory that doubling the cost AND adding Pay to play areas would just be accepted. I kinda doubt this.

I'm.. not sure what this is an argument for? It's all luxury. It's a video game with little to no actual value beyond entertainment. You expect to get extra stuff because you already paid for the base costs?
