I'd advise against trying to tell people what they should value their own purchases as. That's a very subjective thing. Especially when you obviously don't know what the development chain within a company is like. Tons of man hours, work by several different teams, all of that is just at the end of the overall process. Those things cost money. Or have you forgotten that behind those materials and manufacturing that there is a common element with that expensive hand bag and something you can buy in game? The human doing the work at acquiring materials, operating the manufacturing machines and building, and the dev team, art team, marketing team, PM, etc. Or have you forgotten that the human behind all those things is getting paid and has a cost associated?Just stop trying to compare actually worthless digital goods tied to a subscription of a single game to things like food or other physical goods. It doesn't work, at all. Pointlessly expensive bags still have a bill of materials and manufacturing costs every single item.
Most of the things on the store were already in the game in some form. The only difference from a F2P at this point is that event items are free the first time. The amount of apathy towards this, they could double the subscription and charge for dungeons and it would be accepted.
It's just a luxury, don't complain! -Subscribers to a game that in itself is a luxury.
Wouldn't be surprised. Someone who is arrogant enough to dictate (as fact) what the subjective value of something to strangers is probably the same type of person that doesn't see a person behind the Starbucks apron.

Server and intranet costs. Maintenance. Staff costs for the people who write, design, and code. Office costs, real estate and maintenance. There are costs associated with these items.Just stop trying to compare actually worthless digital goods tied to a subscription of a single game to things like food or other physical goods. There is a glut of past seasonal items in the store yes.. but the game has been around for nearly 10 years. .. interesting theory that doubling the cost AND adding Pay to play areas would just be accepted. I kinda doubt this. Most of the things on the store were already in the game in some form. The only difference from a F2P at this point is that event items are free the first time. I'm.. not sure what this is an argument for? It's all luxury. It's a video game with little to no actual value beyond entertainment. You expect to get extra stuff because you already paid for the base costs?
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
You can tell some people here aren't on the job market yet/at all, because they think desk/programming jobs = making things out of thin air and zero cost.
Did that touch a nerve? I'm not telling anyone how they should value things. Everything on the Mog Station is objectively worthless. Your subjective feelings about them don't change that. That subjectivity is what drives sales. They're telling you the value and you're determining it's worth. There could easily be more profit at much lower prices but they treat buyers like mobile whales while raking in subscriptions.I'd advise against trying to tell people what they should value their own purchases as. Do everyone a favour and stay out of subjects you don't understand if you're going to exaggerate and handwave. Not to mention I already answered this. Those things on the Mog Station? No. They're made once and done.materials and manufacturing costs every single item
You're taking the value of 3d geometry and textures tied to a game awfully seriously with that last one.
As a retired WoW player, I don't really mind the prices. The mounts are about on par price wise, except for the special ones which cost more for reasons that make sense, and there's a bigger variety of them. Special outfits that can be worn at any level are a bit pricey, yes, but incredibly optional and just a nice bonus for people who want to spend the money. Past seasonal event items are purchasable for a pretty small free vs permanently unavailable. Housing items like the gold walls are dumb and ostentatious but fun, and again very optional, dyes can be found through other means, and the pets are mostly fanservice.
The boosting system (story and class) is pretty cheap compared to what I'm used to and incredibly versatile, especially if you're a masochist who wants higher level alts. And I'm saying this as a low income Canadian whose dollar is worth like 75 cents of the USD listed prices. Getting to renew my sub isn't always guaranteed, so I rarely get to buy everything I'd like.
But it's an optional bonus for our entertainment. And if I stayed in playing FFXIV instead of going to a movie I was iffy about seeing in theaters, that's money I can spend on making my character look pretty or having a particularly speedy motorcycle if my budget can handle it.
Folks complaining about pricing and what not need to understand how creating these 'digital items that seem to be created out of thin air' process works. It takes a LOT of time, a LOT of people working on that one item; concept design, animating it, testing, this and that, like it takes a lot.
It's beyond insulting; these people are artists for f*cks sake. It's their job. You're practically saying "gimme for free! I know you work really hard and stuff, buuuuut its sooooo expensive!"
Give me a break. It's pathetic.
No matter your age, you're acting very immature.

To your "point", it's hardly immature to suggest that something is too expensive. Especially when it's in the $36 range for an item that has no physical nature and can be taken away at any time without your consent. It's their job to make the game, and I'm already paying for that. The idea that I should have to pay extra for cosmetics is just price gouging.

Yup, their job was to make the game, and you got that via sub and what not.
Anything else is extra.
Look up the definition of "extra".
While you're at it, look up the definition of "luxury".
Aaanndd while you're at it, google the process of creating the content you 'oh so love so much'.
You know, I checked out your profile, and you're one sour individual, almost non-stop complaints really in the forums. I feel like talking to a brick wall with you, ngl. If you don't hear what you want to hear, you just scream and whine.
Why don't you ask yourself, "what can I do to fix this for myself?" since it's clearly a YOU problem? Myself and various others don't find the prices to be that high, and I can afford to buy mounts, glams, emotes and what not any time I want, and I'm a broke ass college student. It's called picking and choosing what to pay for, you know, saving? A practice a LOT of folks do...but perhaps that is beyond you. Idk by this point. *shrug*
Sorry you think that way.
Being an artist myself that animates, does concept design and what not, this is really absurd that you think it's "so easy". I get it, once it's created, it's done and that's that, I really do. But damn man, are you really seriously THIS butthurt because you want items to cost $1? I feel sorry for you almost.
