    It's swings and roundabouts really.
    While they could have done better balance, the whole meta nonsense was kinda the point I felt. Because you could play any job it want that your one character on one specific job was getting shafted..it was ..well, only one job of dozens your character could choose to engage in. There were fights or areas that were unwinnable without key jobs, and almost all jobs had something unique to offer, or at least interest...and that was awesome. Elemental wheel, ninjitsu, extremely versatile selection of pets for SMN or BST...

    Though yes, I know Drk was Uber derp... but I have seen a guy 3-box 3 drgs at once and that absolutely melted certain content.

    I mean, you can sugarcoat it all you want. But it doesn't change the fact that certain classes where considered lepers. Or worse yet, brought along and not being able to use thier class skill in leveling content because it was so bad that all it did was feed the enemy AP.

    We already have Berserker, it's just called "Warrior". I mean, it's explained in Warrior quests, it's even some of the abilities we have, it's...it's already a thing. Just like some of the Astrologian quests in Stormblood have you working as a stand-in for a Geomancer because as it turns out, Geomancy and Astrology are basically just...the same thing but with different names. (It's a little more in depth than that, but the NPC even comments on how similar Astrologians are to what they call Geomancers.)

    So I doubt we're getting Geomancer unless there's some serious retconning going on. Berserker is not going to be a thing, because it already is.

    They comment about the similarities, yes, but I think it was more to the outcome of their magic, not the actual means by which they perform. ASTs draw power from constellations and stars (and seemingly time in regards to their healing, though that bit is speculation based on what NPCs in early job quests say), and Geo from ley lines and "spirits" of the star beneath - plenty of Fates in Yanxia have you face off against likely geomantic enemies who deal a lot with shikigami, and ironically, use books and ACN abilities.

    It's like a "two sides of the same coin" deal... Which doesn't feel like a detractor for it being a possibility as a job, especially after the 80 AST quest. Were Geo a playable class - regardless if it were a caster or healer - I could see it being supportive via Leyline-like abilities meant for other people to use on top of likely picking up the natural element casting that WHM abandoned.

    Not to mention that Ninja and Geomancers have roughly the same place of origin, so it would not be out of the question for Geos to have a system similar to Mudras.

    As I said, it could have done with better balancing. I’m not disputing that.

    What I am saying is if I wanted to be a good tank in 11, I needed to be competent at several very different roles: being able to play Warrior as either 2H axe, dual axe dps blink tank..or paladin (which could raise and offer emergency whitemage role) or ninja with fine timing to keep shadows up was significantly different than 14 where the tanks are 95% cosmetically different.


    As is, it doesn’t really matter what job they add because the only real difference will be a very fringe mechanic, nothing core...at least for the target audience.
