I don't like the idea of using up my achievements that I've earned in the first place

Your achievement score doesn't decrease as you spend the tokens.
The accrual is based on new achievements earned and it is a separate currency from your actual achievement points.

Personally I'd enjoy something for the hunters to go after. Some big ticket items.
