    The achievements

    Good morning all!

I'm writing to share some ideas for improvement that I hold dear regarding achievements.

Why do I think the system needs to be improved?
In my opinion, ff14 is sorely lacking in "complicated" achievements, the majority of them is being obtain by simply playing (completing dungeons, challenges, leveling up and so on).
The system for collecting different items can be improved (I don't see why you have to look in each achievement category to get your item back? Especially when you don't know in which category it is).
Items at the merchant can be bought too quickly and there are too few (I have everything in my possession and I still have more than 100 tokens!).

    How could we improve that?
First, by allowing the player to obtain more interesting items with achievement tokens (new unique mount, mascot, outfits, legendary component ?, etc.).
Improve the achievement system in general, by adding achievements requiring the player to be really good, defeating a boss in X minutes, finishing enemies without players taking a vulnerability, add achievements for guilds? (get a guild house, finish a guild raid? or what do I know!).
Another addition that could be nice and go beyond success would be the addition of jumping puzzles? (with success). I loved Kugane's and always wondered why there wasn't more (being a fan of jumping puzzles thanks in particular to guild wars 2).

    What do you think?

1.0 legacy achievements had some interesting ones. Such as beating a boss a specific way or working a specific time. My favourite Breathless, it was not using any fruit in AV, which I wish was a title I could show off.

I would be down for better achievements for sure. Right now they are mostly dull grinds.

i would love for that to be an achievement again, it would be fun challenge to try it sync'd or unsync'd

some fun 'self-challanges' achievements to bring a new spin and new life into some older content akin to the Blu challenges/achievements

I love that sort of thing. Inevitable WoW comparison incoming, but I love how WoW has the dungeon meta achievements. Beat boss x without killing any adds, beat boss y while everyone has at least 4 stacks of [debuff], beat boss z without letting it cast [spell], etc, and if you get them all there's a title and fancy mount. I miss that sort of optional challenge.

Personally I think the achievement system is fine but it would be nice if we could obtain more items with the Achievement tokens.
I don't see the point in adding in achievements like "beat boss in X time" as that just breeds more competitiveness which in-turn causes more issues of toxicity.
I do like the idea of adding in more jump puzzles with tangible rewards though but jumping in this product just isn't that fluid to go nuts with platforming as anyone who had their character standing on air when on a edge would tell you.

Though I would say the thing that should be added in (in my opinion) is a achievement for having completed all of the following quests: "Friends Forever", "Eternity, Loyalty, Honesty", and "What a Wonder-full World" and then attaching a mount to it as that would entice more to do such a thing outside of what's already there, which in all honesty isn't alot since you can just buy most of those rewards straight from on the Market Board or even events, thus making their value as a reward less so since you could just buy it instead of spending weeks to months of dailies to earn it.

more acheivements/titles to get would be fine with me but the problem is the rewards needed to be attached to them. the system is woefully underutilized as it is right now. if there's no carrot to go after that's enticing enough, then it's just all fluff. there also doesn't seem to be a push to make more rewards available either in this regard.

I don't really want more things to "spend" my achievement points on. The token system was meant for new players to get old veteran rewards, it wasn't a system designed for achievement hunters. I don't like the idea of using up my achievements that I've earned in the first place, and would rather simply have threshold achievements tied to certain point totals. Like, getting 1000 achievement points gives you a starter level title like Worker Bee or something. 5000 points is some little minion of Jonathas or something. 10,000 points would be a nice title like "Over-achiever" and 20,000 points would be a spiffy mount like a golden chocobo (or golden fat chocobo!). This would make all achievements valuable since all points would be used towards these goals.

Your achievement score doesn't decrease as you spend the tokens.
The accrual is based on new achievements earned and it is a separate currency from your actual achievement points.

Personally I'd enjoy something for the hunters to go after. Some big ticket items.

It is a limited currency though, that's the issue. You want a big ticket item, but if buying it means you no longer have enough tickets to buy some other big ticket items, then that's dumb. Unless they make the big ticket items so cheap that you can still buy them all easily...which defeats the entire purpose of them being big ticket. Something for the hunters to go after would be exactly what I suggested - achievement rewards that are based on achievement point totals. Same thing, but without the annoyance of being attached to a limited currency.

No that sounds great, it just means more drive to achieve more, as it's only limited to the number of achievements you have.
Right now I have 400+ of unused achievement certificates. Adding a couple of cool things for 150 certificates isn't going to break my bank, and would probably give an average player something to strive for.
