While I would love a lot of these ideas and know they would go a long way to improving the glamour system, we won't get anything like this in FFXIV.

Restrictions are partially to blame as they add another dimension to work around if they wanted a catch all glamour dresser. However, this is a small constriction. The bigger one is all the data contained within a single piece of gear, which included its stats, spirit bond level, materia slots, base color, etc.

One thing they can do is make any glamour gear like cash shop items, and like items that have few stats able to be placed in the armoire. From there they can figure out a way to nuke the stats on gear they won't mind eliminating the restrictions on. This would benefit a couple days. One would be they wouldn't have to release copies of previous gear that have the restrictions removed. The other is it would relieve a ton of storage space for players and open up their glamour options. While we can't look at every piece of gear in the game at one location. We could at least be able to look at any piece of gear we've touched.

There is no reason to actually store any of the stats server side if there were to be a log. Not even a reason to store the original id for the gear either since you can instead just use a bitmap and say "This item goes to byte 3 bit 5". And if they want to be even more stingy they could demand that you need the entire equipment set and store that as one bit. Meanwhile it's the client that gets to handle/sort through the bitmap while browsing glamour you got obtained.

No, that's not the only feature. Inventory is also the other feature and it's a great way to keep at least one set of dye on the gear itself.

Again, none of this would be necessary with a properly functioning glamour system that simply permanently logged whatever glam options you knew.

FFXIV already has a properly functioning glamour system. It just needs a log to keep the appearance options.

No it doesn't. It has a clunky, inconvenient glamour system riddled with unnecessary restrictions.
