It functions. It is in no way a properly functioning system. There are so many hoops to jump through just to use it, and so many things that need fixing in order to make it a worthwhile system. As it stands, it's a hot mess of a system that needs a lot of work to bring it up to par with any other MMO's customization.

There are a few hoops to get your plates set up, yes. But once they're set up, it's pretty quick and painless to apply them to an outfit. It functions. It is in no way a properly functioning system. There are so many hoops to jump through just to use it, and so many things that need fixing in order to make it a worthwhile system. The system might be able to function better, but that doesn't make the current model non-functional.
It's certainly vastly preferable to prisms.
Also, I've said before - I suspect they can't implement a simpler system or they would have made it instead of this one. They may be stuck working around pre-existing programming and this is the best they can do. And if that's true and we won't get anything better than this, then it isn't that bad.
Have two DoH jobs with the same gear but diffferent glams and to change glamours in the Firmament you have to leave, reapply the glamour plate, then re-enter. Quick and painless.
Queue for one job and switch to another job within the same role while outside of the limited places you can apply glamour plates. Queue pops and you're stuck with whatever frankenstein glamour is left over because of the class specific gear you chose to glamour with. Quick and painless.
You have 20 jobs you want to have different glamour for and most of them share the same gear. Quick and painless.
Please quote anywhere I said it was non-functional. You even quoted me saying "It functions." Yes, it functions in that you can make one shirt look like another shirt and can even do that to multiple items in one go. That's bare bones stuff. It doesn't function as a proper glamour system should. Period.
You must not have not played any other MMO. Heck, even single player games like Diablo 3 have a better functioning glamour system than FFXIV. FFXIV's glamour system is horrible when comparing it to systems like ESO, WoW, etc. It's a shame really, because the item design is so much better in FFXIV than those games. FFXIV deserves a proper glamour system, not the hot mess that it currently has. FFXIV does so many things well, but how you access the glamour system is not one of them.

A proper glamour system has nothing to do with class/job specific gears. That's the dev's choice. And not being able to glamour in certain places is a systems limitation, not an issue with the glamour system.
Yes, it does. Having more than 15 glamour plates is a direct solution to this issue.
Nope. You can glamour individual items anywhere, even in instances. Glamour plates being restricted to cities and housing districts is specifically an issue with the glamour system.

So it has limitations. I know it does. That's a thing it doesn't do well and I've kind of forgotten that multiple crafter glamours are even an option - and if I had them I'd probably put up with it over bothering to go out of the Firmament just to ensure they apply.
For updating your gear and reapplying the same glamour you had before, it's great.
For changing between multiple glamours on a whim, it's great.
It functions well for the things I frequently use it to do. It could have more features, and I'm not saying it wouldn't benefit from upgrades, but there are still things it currently does well.
If we need a "properly functioning" system then that implies that we don't have one. An improperly functioning system is non-functional.

You're exaggerating on its limitations and it functions well. So many hoops? You unlock the feature, purchase glamour items and just do it at appropriate locations, and you can even use the dresser to store items and save some templates and link to gearsets. It functions. It is in no way a properly functioning system. There are so many hoops to jump through just to use it, and so many things that need fixing in order to make it a worthwhile system. As it stands, it's a hot mess of a system that needs a lot of work to bring it up to par with any other MMO's customization.
