I don't come up with prices for add-on content.. I also don't develop them. I know people who do tho, not just for little cash shop features. Best I can say is we really do not know what the process involved in getting that content to the Mogstation entails entirely. There is probably some Quality Assurance team that needs to be paid for their time, probably some animosity between certain members of the Quality Assurance team and whatever artists make stuff as well, leading to expenditures and some level of crony-ism involved that we are just not privy to. That's business.
I honestly feel like the chocobo carriage is overpriced for what is there. It's an already in-game asset that probably had some slight modifications made to it, whatever coding was needed to make it a useable mount happened, and recycled "chocobo mount" theme. To me, that isn't getting my 35.99 or whatever the cost is. On the flip side, I was all about that SDS fenrir.. loved the theme it plays as well, and that is like not recycled asset. It's a one seater, cost 29.99 and it is account wide as well. To me I feel like I got my USD worth out of that. I use it every time I log in. I use the regalia too, and I said when that came out I'd pay $30 to get that on an alt or the rest of my account.
Is the stuff over priced? That's subjective. I'm a guy with disposable income thankfully, I don't try to flaunt it. There are multiple glams that imo are just not worth it to me. I will not pay for them, for the cost. Maybe on a sale, but even still at like 33% off, I am like nah, I'll just pass. I can "afford" them, but I just reign back and say no not worth it. There is the vast majority of the little cash shop I feel this way about. And considering the few things I've bought, and how all over the spectrum of cost they were it just came down to what I judge was worth it to me.
I fantasia'd to miqo 1 time, and back to Lalafell, and I feel that fantasia's are insanely overpriced for what you get, not gonna buy another, and even if they go on sale, not ever going to buy one. Now a buy one get one free, eh maybe, but I also just enjoy being a smol.
I know my schpeel here is probably hitting off topic at points but what I mean to say is, judge the value of the item, and decide for yourself. There are things that are eh sorta kinda want them on the mogshop but at the same time, flopping down 10-15 bucks for them even if I have it to spend just prohibits my interest from making it a sale for them. If they want my money, they'll adapt, and sell cheaper. If not, I'll just be short glam.

Yep, pretty much this. It's not necessarily a question of whether one can or can't afford something. Just because you can afford a brand new Rolls Royce doesn't mean you're going to go out and buy one because, hey, that's just what they cost. There is still a lot of room to say "I might want that or like that but it's not worth what they're asking for it" even if you can afford it.
For me, I'd like the dirndl shirt and the spriggan mount. I could easily afford the dirndl shirt and the spriggan mount. But I'm not buying either of them because I think charging $18 USD for a single in game shirt and $30 USD for a in game mount is a serious over reach, especially in a game I already pay monthly to play.
None of that has anything to do with the point being made. Which was if something is over-priced and someone tells you just to budget for it, you wouldn't treat it as a reasonable thing to say.
No one needs bread to eat. If it's too expensive, buy rice or crackers or potatoes etc. There is no difference between the two comparisons. The only 'childish thing' is your inability to form a coherent point without making baseless insults.
It has never mattered whether something is needed or not. Being ripped off as something is over-priced is being ripped off as something is over-priced. People will always talk about something like that, whether it's bread or computer graphics. Trying to come up with semantic reasons to promote being ripped off isn't reasonable. In your own words, 'How is that a difficult concept to master?'
Yes, the fault lies with SE. As for that market stuff, I refer you to the answer I gave Krotoan. This is just repeating the same stuff so there is no point repeating the same answers over and over.
It doesn’t matter if it’s literally the same thing or not. The concepts are the same or close enough so of course the items are comparable.
That's...appalling.

actually, what you are putting forth as being overprices is your subjective view. since they sell the items, it is apparent not everyone feels the same.
so, prove that the items are overpriced. I have seen no other games selling items for FFxiv just as I have not seen mog station selling things for other games. so I am not following how its provable. What are the costs for developing these items? I have not seen those figures anywhere. basically, without seeing a cost to market for an item you are unable to say anything is provable.
single character mounts are half the price of account wide. So it is apparent some coding is involved there to allow for inclusion for all characters. Do you happen to know what extra coding is required to allow for 3 passengers?
I am certain you are also aware that as a business, they expect to make some profit to show to stockholders. do you have anything that shows profit per item that may be provable for your claim?
Goodness gracious, way to miss my entire point. Nobody needs Mogstation items to play this game. SE even made that point very clear on their banner once you hit the Mogstation page that the items are OPTIONAL ITEMS. If you're arguing just to argue, you're doing a very poor job at it.
I made no insults. The fact you think I did is another you problem. Not me.
Game makes you pay for:
1. Monthly sub
2. Pay for the base game (up until the most recent free trial so most people playing now bought the base game)
3. Expansions (basic full game price every 2 years)
4. You need retainers if you want decent item storage and gil making.
Yet people still think it's fine for Square Enix to charge 100s of dollars for statues, and 40 bucks for the most recent mount.
Not to mention all the other merchandise and crap they flog that a certain portion of this audience will buy each and everytime no matter what it is.
Only way they will change is if no-one buys the mogstation stuff but that isn't going to stop anytime soon.
Ok so the idea youre thinking about is pay to enter. Then consider it this way. You buy a ticket to go to a theme park like Disneyland. You can ride the rides to your hearts content, but that cute tshirt with Mickey and Minnie mouse doesnt come with your ticket price. Its extra. You pay out of pocket for it, on top of your ticket price.
This is how FFXIV works in a very blunt and simplistic manner. You paid to get in the theme park, you can ride the rides (content), but the merch (glamour/emotes/etc) is extra. Thats how this works. Just cause you buy the ticket doesnt mean youre entitled to everything that is within the park.
This is all really economics and the willingness to pay.
Plus these are all options for your characters. If you want premium for vanity reasons, you pay for it. You missed the sale? Oh well.
I don't want to be crude but these are really all vanity items. You don't need them. You just want them.
The willingness to pay concept doesn't care if you think it's expensive as long as there's a good amount of people out there are willing to pay for those prices advertised.
