BTW here's a fun story. Gubal HM. Was trying to get SAM that last level. Party was alright, but the healer and a DPS died to the second boss. Leaving me and the Tank. Later the boss killed the tank, but I managed to get a Bladedance off and thus killed the boss. I got 2 comms for my toruble.

My dear DPS partner, instead of asking me "why???" I used a LB as a bard on a pack when the healer was clearly new and falling behind in healing (which would have resulted in a wipe), you should be saying "Thank you". Quite often I stumble across random DPS players like you in DF who clearly don't touch Tanks/Healers enough that tunnel vision and lack situational awareness when things are going south. And for crying out loud, if you're going to turn your brain off while doing your dailies, at least take off your mentor crown; already a bad enough stigma towards that crown as it is.

Had an interesting run of Alpha 2 earlier. Party comp was GNB(me), PLD, WHM, AST, MNK, SAM, DRG, and DNC. Due to a few being first timers/not having done it in a while, we wiped(kind of expected when people forget/don't know) to the second stack. On the second pull, one of the healers didn't quite get their res off in time to get the other up, but the PLD and I just kept going(20% roughly left on Middy at that point). Ended up taking the stack mechanic myself(thank you Superbolide for being there for me in my time of need), and with the power of Aurora, a Clemency(pretty sure), and Brutal Shell ended up back at full HP. We cleared it while the rest of the party was commenting on how they wish they could comm more than one person, and that they thought it was awesome tanking(the power of two people who both know their classes fairly well, as well as knowing the fight).

I have something good to post for once.

I'm on an alt leveling his RDM, and decide to fling myself into the unknown for 5/6/7 roulette. Queue pops and we load in, it's Baelsar's Wall again. Lovely. Rest of party comp is WAR, WHM, and NIN. WHM's hp is a bit low due to wearing augmented quest gear, but I can deal with that.

Our tank pipes up that he hasn't played in quite a while. That's fine, I can manage.

Healer then pipes up that she knows nothing, she just heals. Nani?

First pull was very, VERY evident that our war tank had not played in a while: I was tanking as rdm, which I find was a no-no. I then hear Cure 1 spam go off with our healer standing off in Narnia. The tank and I barely survive the pull, and we proceed to chug along. The next pull was a bit more rough, with me nearly dying again before the tank grabbed aggro back.

At this point I feel a bit butt-clentchy and decided if it was wise to give tips to our rusty tank. I ask him, and to my relief he did want some tips. I told him a bit of a quick rundown of what to do as war since his last possible playthrough of 14: Overpower > Mythril Temptest to grab aggro and help aoe, use Arm's Length, maintain your damage buff, etc. I ended up leaning a bit toward the whm to toss in some Holies to help mitigate mob damage for trash, toss some regens on the tank and use Cure 2 for efficiency. And for the remainder of the dungeon, the tank actually followed the advice I gave, same for the whm sans single regens, as she was a Medica II lady. Close enough.

First boss we chug on through as for the most part there wasn't much to mention other than his tankbuster. Second boss I didn't get a chance to explain before the tank decided to Leeroy Jenkins it. They did eat mechanics for it though. Last boss I gave them a heads up about the mechanics. Everyone dodged Flash Powder on the first try, then the second and third...only the tank and healer ate the stuns. So close. Interestingly enough I only saw one Asylum and a couple Assize. Still a good start for them to realize there's more than just two buttons to their kit.

I walked out of there with three comms, but the biggest satisfaction was helping returners and sprouts realize you can do more than just mash a single button or two.

This one is beyond your help. Only sleep can save her now.

Don’t blame them, they ain’t smart enough to realize your intention.Either lacking experience or have such short visions, they’re just expandable average DPS anyway.

Wreath of snakes normal, first time in there as well as 2 other people. Despite going in blind though with some FC members (just 3) on Discord giving heads up about mechanics we managed to get down to 10% before an accident caused a wipe. The tank immediately rage quit. Personally if a team of newbies gets that low on a first shot, you'd think it would be a clear next go around. Sure enough, cleared it next shot once we got a new tank.

Imagine spending all that time getting a boss to 10% on the first try with newbies, only to lose your cool and leave. I mean, idk if he mentioned anything on his way out to give the impression he was rage-quitting (after all, he might had literally only time for a one-shot) but if he was really mad, that tank just wasted his own time.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

To be fair, you're asking someone new to read 2,900 pages and depending on how their screen layout is that page count could be more. So it's a little understandable to not want to read 3k pages of complaints to maybe find the 50 or so good post. Also lets be real, over 70% of these posts are horror stories. Lets not hide from that.

No one is hiding from the fact that most of this thread is stories about bad runs. Its in the title. But honestly? I wouldnt be at all afraid to have a brand new player read a few pages. First thing, they would see is that no one is using names(so even if they do the same things, they wouldnt be named either). If they read a few pages, they would probly pick up on the fact that communication could solve 75% of these issues. Are you new and dont know what to do? Say so, and often people will tell you what you need to know. Are you struggling with something? If you ask, you might get good advice to solve the issue. Keep reading, and you see that probly 10-15% of the posts are people sharing the dumb thing that THEY did themselves(ive posted a few of these). You can even read it just for "What not to do" type guidance. And OMG are there more then "50 or so good post". We're at basically 29000 posts. There are probly 2-3000 of just "Im sorry you had to deal with that" posts. And yeah, plenty of people do share stories of good runs too. It can lighten the mood, it can highlight the ____ who did ____ extra well, or just the person who put a smile on your face.

Their screen layout is my problem, how? How would that person know a percentage of "horror stories" when they are new and obviously haven't read any of it? That excuses their laziness?? Huh??! Said person made a blanket assumption and rather then try to contribute, go with the flow of the topic, they derail and I called them out on it. Simple. I don't know about you, but I like to read long threads before I reply; get a feel for the rhythm of the thread instead of coming in randomly to spew nonsense just to stir things up, but maybe that's just me.
