How would they even do that unless they do like a fake fc and sell the house as part of fc?
Honestly, I think Housing in general could use some updates. But individuals deserve just as much chance at getting houses as Free Companies, because housing is something really appealing to work towards.
Now having said that, I personally think players should be limited to a single house per server, shared across their characters. In addition, instead of "Personal housing" and "Free Company housing", they should all be privately-owned, and the FC leader simply flags a house to be treated as "FC housing".
That would A) cut down on "selling" Free Companies with houses, and B) limit players to a single house, instead of technically being able to own two (on the same character, no less!).
Honestly, while I like my current house (one of the beach-front ones in the Mist), I'm REALLY excited about Ishgard getting a housing area... whenever that is. I just hope it's a little less... depressing? I'd love a little more "Christmas/winter wonderland" vibe, just my personal preference
I usually begin and end my "day" in Eulmore where there's no RMT crap, and very little emote spam. When I need to go to Limsa, I just put chat in battle mode to silence all the regular chat garbage. I don't "hang out" anywhere though. When I've done what I need to do, I log off.I'll comment about it not being social...
So? What are private individuals supposed to do? All hang out with the entire server in a very crowded Limsa Laminsa at the Aetherite? Yuck! Gross! Listen to the endless spam of the RMT, the stupid competition of who can spam the most annoying emotes, and the awful conversation that is just utter nonsense? No thank you! I like my house and apartment!
You can use the garden or decorate in an FC only if the leader lets you, probably with restrictions. You can use a personal house any way you want. As-is, I've been in my FC house about 3 times, just to see what it looks like, but I have no other reason to be there.
My very first house was bought before I was a crafter. I've since lost it due to a break I took. Then, my wife and I got together and bought a second one BEFORE we got serious about crafting.
Put out the damn effort and stop demonizing us who do. This is incredibly dumb and lazy.
Individuals = Not fine
FCs with 1 person = fine
Gotta love the backhanded argument by the OP
I am a FC leader. I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing EVERYONE having access to decoration and garden. I tend not to trust everyone (learned the hard way).

I understand this and I agree with this logic. Besides, having many people decorate will only result in conflict and chaos. This is all the more reason player housing is important for individuals who wanna decorate their own space (without being restricted by the tiny space of apartments or FC rooms).
The Glamour Effect: That awkward moment when you realize you know FFXIV's gear pieces better than your own wardrobe X'D
I bought my first fc room because the fc house I was using at the time was horrendously furnished. Too many people had furnishing permissions and this resulted in horribly clashing decor and some criminal clipping. I found it so unpleasant to look at I got myself a fc room to have an indoor space that looked halfway decent.I understand this and I agree with this logic. Also that fc had drama due to too many players having furnishing permissions. Someone started removing furniture without telling anyone and this started a massive fight. We never figured out who did it. I was so thankful that my rank had no furniture permissions so I was left entirely out of that mess. Still wasn't nice to watch though.
