Gath and his concern for lack of LS competition.

Half of the discussion in just about any of Gath’s threads is just people complaining about how he talks in 3rd person and how he should either grow up or stop posting on the forums altogether

so maybe half the people discussing in the thread should either

A. stop clicking on gath's threads
or
B. if they still aim to click it, suck it up and read what he's saying and actually contribute to the topic

because, whether you like his posting style or not, he's pretty much right. the more you guys flip out over his annoying 3rd person talking thing, the more i'm convinced you *literally* look for *absolutely anything* to complain about

(and the state of the forum in general pretty much reinforces that notion)

Well, the real truth is that people look for anything on these forums to complain about.
Gath notices that ever since SE announced 2.0 and what the road map for its finalization will be made it so people would find whatever they could to feed their negative emotions.
Gath still stands on the competition factor because they never announced what type of competition, Gath is just worried for the game he plays and his community.

if we get more open world content there will be LS's fighting for it, but if we continue to get tiny world instance's there no point in competition since 8 people will own that small world at a time, cookie cut world loves doing cookie cut things.

sound like alot of people want a mmo where do dont do anything but cry about not having content.

pve can have competition only difference between pve & pvp is your killing monsters not players.

It's annoying how much people complain about everything on the forums, but as far as I can remember the one and only thing I've ever complained about on these forums is Gath (So don’t include me into those people).

Plus, you can't say I'm wrong because you prove my point by talking about this (which is off-topic from the threads original discussion), and we’re talking off-topic because I was annoyed by Gath’s 3rd person talk. So once again, more people talking about it instead of the thread topic.

What part of PvE is a competition for anything but yourself as a person? Because, imo, killing an NPC is just a competition against yourself. I can see some people here saying it is, but doesn't really explain how. PvE is attainable or achievable by just everyone. PvP, however, demands that you're either better, or try to become better than your opponent, meaning only one In General will be "the best". That's a measurement of skill, i.e. competition. So how can PvE ever be competetive? Some kind of high-score? Bc in my ears, that just sound like more grinding.

I disagree, PvE is more demanding as a competition than PvP. Any player can be the best at killing another player, but having the best Pvp'ers form a party to do an event such as Ifrit, Moogle, etc. They might probably fail horribly.

Showing how well you work with others is a better competition, to me that is. You could very well kill the best tank on ther server in a fight, but can you tank better than them when it actually matters?

But PvP is obviously about teamwork, actually, it's the edge of teamwork. Here's there's no static strategy as it is in, for example, killing Ifrit. You can't even compare fighting a dead thing versus another human being. Doing 1vs1 between different classes is a horrible example. 8vs8 would be the natural LSvsLS competition. For 1vs1, meeting people of your own class would be the most "normal" thing to do.

Gath knows that competition can be bad, but for the most part it serves a very good purpose. It helps make those fatsy ding dong lazy players get a bit more active because there is stuff to do constantly. With the competition leads to time dependent content :3

Please stay on topic for when you stay off topic it in fact makes your gil worth even less than Gath's gil.
Gath thinks you try too hard for something that Gath doesn't even bother to worry about that much.

When LS competition engulfs our game (hopefully) then we will see a large drop in people with a large multitude of LS. Which is good. There will still be those casuals who buy my stuff for Gath :3
