Yes and all the time we got an increase in sub..so imo we should have gotten all these changes on top of the basics..honestly the game seemingly runs so good that its a large part of the income for SE..yet we are forced to lose basics like dungeons to get some other necessary changes?

Honestly I am fine if people spend their money on cash shop (I did it too in the past until it got too much) but I agree...instead of just saying: I bought it because I wanted it some seem to want to give some strange reasons..as if deep down they dont feel that good about just spending money for it..

You know if you search on youtube for "Lets go whaling" with the CEO Torulf Jernström, you find a whole video done about how they use the people (in their view whales) to make money. You know what one of his points is? That a company should tell the people that they are supporting the devs and the game with it and that its necessary because of costs..yet he says that this is a complete lie..this is only to make people think that they are helping..instead its just about earning the most amount of money.

So yes you are free to spend your money as you want and I would not fault you for it. But lets not pretend that this isnt just done to get the company more money..

I feel like SE actually does these on purpose so that the obvious outraged crowd can crawl out of the woodwork with their manufactured outrage and get schooled by any other average player. PSA - spending 1 cent in the cash shop means you're now a whale and you should just take harassment from freeloaders and shut up.

You're really just setting yourself up for disappointment here. People have been saying they could make any and every one of these unique mounts a quest reward; from the Carbuncles to the Spriggan. They aren't going to. Even if they did eventually want to put a unique mount like this into the game, you certainly wouldn't be getting it for a fifteen minute quest but through a lengthily grind you otherwise wouldn't want to partake in. Case in point, Astrope. The whole idea being to incentivize content.

At this stage, SE is well aware of people's divisive opinions on the Mogstation. They either don't care and/or said opinions aren't enough to offset how many people are either indifferent or willing to purchase whatever item tickles their fancy. Either way, it isn't going to change and we'll be right back here the next time they release a new mount and people pitch a fit over it.

Yes I'm sure the marketting team loves to see their loyal sources of constant revenue doing their job for them and reassuring them that their tactics are working.
"increase in sub" meant "more people subscribing" XIV is consistently earning higher and higher sub numbers
"whale" is not an insult created by players to bully eachother. It's a term invented and used by companies who want to exploit people. Feeding into the lie that companies need to juice out every last cent from their customers to survive by parroting their marketting slogans and emotional BS is playing right into the hands of people who aren't concerned with delivering a good product, but are only interested in convincing you that you're getting more than they're really giving you.
Literally no one playing this game is a freeloader. People either pay a sub and buy expansions, or they're on the trial providing fast queues and the illusion of populated leveling zones for new players.

Its just a pure cosmetic thing, 4 person mounts have no use outside of Eureka or Rp maybe, and even if, we already had 2 in game.
Yes one of them is Regalia which isnt avaible now, but the other one is realtively easy to get, of course if a person want it and are aware that it require a bit of work.

This could just as easily have been a quest reward, they decided not to and that's fine, but it wouldn't have been unheard of.

I don't care about the cash shop in general, I've used it myself, and if anyone bought the mount I genuinely hope they enjoy it. But do we really need to keep pretending and defending it like it's anything other than a cash grab transaction? Flowery language about donations and supporting these poor struggling devs? Let's say when he made the statement that every purchase went back into the game that was indeed the case, does anyone really believe they would update their statement if or when this changed?
