    Yeah, this. Time has shown that Geomancer wasn't a teaser, just something they included for lore/story. That doesn't mean it won't ever become a job, but it wasn't a teaser for it and didn't feel like it at the time. Even all the Geo posts at the time were requesting it not talking about how it was a teaser for it, and it wasn't really on anyone's radar before it appeared in game aside from the occasional "what jobs would you like to see" thread.

    Time will tell if 5.3 MSQ was a teaser for Chemist or not, but it definitely feels different than Geo. The talk about Chemist requests has been huge on the forums long before 5.3 dropped, and the way it was presented in the story was with a wink and a nod. Whether that wink and nod was a teaser for it being a 6.0 job or if was just a mild tongue in cheek jest at all the attention Chemist was getting on forums we don't know, but I'm inclined to think they wouldn't do the latter just on its own without having something to come out of it.

    "I wanna be a Warrior of Light! One that fights with potions!"

    "A Warrior of Light that fights with potions? That sounds crazy, but it just might work! And we work hard enough one day there will be potion wielding WoL everywhere!"
    I definitely see where you are coming from on that one. It was a very strong start to 5.3 with that hint for a potion healer. It’s definitely why it’s at the forefront of my guess for healers, while Geomancer is my caster bet.

    Though I definitely see the sheer amount of Geomancer we have in game, as more than just “world building.” That’s a lot of time and effort from The dev team for just some flavor text.

    With white mage losing it’s aero/stone this expansion, with it’s journey into glare dia, are we just fully expecting to not have a continuation of Aero and Stone from now on until the game ends? We’re not talking Ver-, or ninjutsu or anything, just straight up Aero and Stone. Someone’s gotta pick those up.

    Did some digging also and weren’t SAM and RDM originally hinted at in The Rising event before they even made an appearance in the MSQ?

    It’s been on the radar for quite a bit of time though, just a bit in the background. Geomancer was datamined in 1.0 as a branch off of Conjurer, the opposite of white mage, when scholar/summoner was enroute.

    And the hype restarted when Yoshi P said he had an eastern caster that was planned/made for Stormblood that never got released. It has definitely been a slow burn though.

    Geomancer I feel has become Schrödinger's job, if it gets added we can be like "see all this lore wasn't for nothing" and if it doesn't there's still the potential for it to be released. There's plenty of Lore and even still Geomancer weapon models left from 1.0 in the game. It's sorta always been in the background for so long that it could come at any point, it just feels like a better time now since we could use a 4th caster to round out the roles.

    If we get a 5th melee with 6.0 I will scream both internally and externally.

    I agree with Ryu here with the Chemist Healer and Geo caster. This way no one’s toes get stepped on thematically. We get a 4th caster and we don’t get a second healer who focuses on wind/water/earth.

    Yep. We need another caster and Yoshi gave us his signature bigger expansion in between eastern themed jobs. If there was ever a time for Geomancer it would be 6.0. Samurai didn’t come with it’s planned HW because of ninja, they gave a bugger expansion, Samurai was released with 4.0, then 5.0 came out as a buffer, now the leylines have crossed.

    Yea I think this works out really well, because then only Physical Ranged would be 3 with every other roll being balanced at 4 each and most of the unique big ticket FF jobs being represented

    Geomancer was never intended for 1.0. No weapons were made for it, it wasn't ever considered as a job. The only jobs/classes planned for 1.0 that we really know of were Arcanist and Musketeer.

    1.0 Arcanist would've had a mechanical staff, but that isn't somehow a Geomancer weapon. It was still intended for Arcanist.
