The toxicity starting to happen.

I'll be honest, I see less toxicity in game then people complain about online (only the occasional elitist or troll) and I see MORE toxicity on places like Reddit.

Facts. Reddit has become an awful cesspit lately to the point I've just come off it. They break every rule, have a name and shaming sub that completely breaks TOS (TalesfromDF) and their mods just sit on their hands and let it all happen.

It has absolutely gotten worse since FFXIV became more popular and another MMO that shall not be named has gone into heavy decline.

Ingame? Toxicity is rare, the few that do it are easily just blacklisted and never delt with again.

Yeah youtube, REDDIT and the forums are WAY more toxic then anything in the game from my experience. Though I do see it ingame from time to time. I was in a group a bit ago where we were all vets but the tank. I knew they were new because leaf, level of classes leveled... one.. and cutscenes played. I was the only one who waited for them.. the TANK. The other memebers rushed, the poor tank tried as best they could to keep up. But cutsecnes got in the way. This was the one dungeon in the MSQ where it has that one cutscene at the end before the boss. The other two bitched about the tank watching said scene. That got on my nerves. I hate when people do that to new players. but it's rare ingame.

I've had that a few times, but usually it's our one person left to grumble while the other two party members say it's okay and wait. I think Stone Vigil is the one with the long one right before the final boss? I've had the most complaints from impatient people there when running with a newbie.

Guys tanking dungeons in this game most the boils down to people using their class abilities. A just has to use their AoE , pop cooldowns. and try to mitigate as much damge as possible. Wope happens then that is on the healer and dps, but if th we group wants larger pulls give them e h st theh want if it goes well cool, if not just smirk and do smaller pulls.

Tam-Tara? I remember having one run our healer unwillingly stepped too far forward while the other dps was in the cutscene and the scorpion spider started fighting. We all apologized profusely lol

I agree with some others here in that I don't see too much toxicity in game. I think I have only encountered one rude player while doing a dungeon.

I find that the fandom outside of the game can be very toxic though, particularly on Reddit and Twitter, where there's a ton of character hate.

Point proven. This is exactly why tanking will always be, in every game ever, the least played role. Nothing encourages people more to try a role than being belittled and judged right from the get go.

Nobody's belittling or judging anyone. Tanking in casual content is literally just "turn on tank stance, hit your AoE buttons, cycle through defensive cooldowns." If you can hit a button every 2.5 seconds and keep a cooldown up then you will be fine. People make it harder on themselves than it needs to be by doing dumb stuff like single-targeting trash packs and even trying to pull with shield lob in dungeons where mobs appear out of nowhere and immediately aggro the closest person. Seriously all you need to do is run up to the mobs and hit them with your AoE button, really simple and easy, no need for "tanxiety".
