Of course, the heaver you make your character, the slower it will be when running, and will slow down to walking speed sooner, taking longer to recover unless you stop for a while.

Thats not how it works. Momentum is heavily based on weigth. The more weight, the more energy the object has. Slowing down costs energy (on earth most of it is caused by air resistance, which is especialy strong upon faster objects - its not a linear scale). So the slowdown will take longer as it takes more energy to slow down. Therefor it most likely takes longer to get back to walking speed. And because at slower speeds air resistance already provides less resistance, the heavier object can maintain that momentum significantly longer. The recovery part in which you need 'rest' to speed up after again, remains true, since while the heavier object reduces speed slower, it still loses more energy in this process as it still stays in this higher speed for longer. So more energy is needed to speed up again.

And when someone is extremely fit, weight is often not as restricting to them, as while their weight is higher, a lot of that is muscles (which are significantly heavier compared to fat). And bodies are extremely good at storing this energy and using it. The only restriction is that this extra weight will cause slower movements.

But in this game where most energy you have is driven by aether, weight can be completely ignored as a factor. The fatter characters just have more space in their body for aether to exist, which helps speeding up/slowing down. This can be used as lore to negate the downsides of weight.

Yes, it's okay. We need to bring back shame. Look at countries in the west. It's complete chaos because we no longer shame people.
