Yes, thankfully that particular path has been ruled out. Though many of the same posters who were asking for them to look like that have now switched tactics and are pushing for them to be as short and androgynous/feminine as possible to get a similar effect.
By that response they gave about younger-looking characters I feel like it's something they don't even want to go near.
You couldn't be more wrong. As far as I know nobody wants them to be kid-looking (becuase it would be creepy, since their mates are adult 'Amazonian' women), people just embrace the idea of getting the reverse of AuRa (taller and stronger females, shorter and more delicate males). It's about having more options. Remember that people are different and some of them like to indentify with their characters. We have literally no option for androgynous men, all male characters are bulky, even Miqo'te. So I'd be more than happy to see one male race with more slender body, that's all. I do not see anything wrong with it.
Not true, this is your delicate/androgynous choice. Male ElezenYou couldn't be more wrong. This is again proof that people are not being honest. Male Viera should not be used to fill no kind of quota outside of being Male Viera, tall like the females, a lot of muscle like the females; and based on their lore and the official sketch they should be main/masculine/rugged/buff/puff. If they're androgynous they would just be male Elezen.
I have been in this thread from the very start and I have yet to see the big amount of people that wanted them as children. Or that those that wanted them that way suddenly changed and now push for another agenda. Maybe there are some that fall in both groups but I doubt that this is the case for anyone that wants a more androgynous male. And wanting that is not wrong. Androgynous does not mean young or children. Its more like all those K-Pop or J-Pop idols. Nothing wrong with wanting that.
Quite a few actually wanted an Omega male built and saw it as androgynous. I doubt he would count as a child. In FF games you are often able to play as young adults so I am not sure why exactly it would be so wrong if people want to play as something like that. (And I mean a lot of Au Ra females can look quite young too..) And the person you quoted also said something like: Honestly if they just did a male with midlander/miqo'te height with the leaner build that they tried for with elezen I'd be a happy camper. Does not sound like a child too me either.A short guy doesn't look like a teenager or a child unless they're very feminine/androgynous in addition to being short. Which appears to be what you're asking for, alongside certain other posters. As evidenced in the following quoted post:
Those of us who want to design a character along the lines of, say, Snow from FF13, Jecht from FF10 or Gladio from FF15 do not have the possibility at the moment. The closest in terms of physique would be Highlanders...but between 'same face' and a lack of eyebrows that leaves much to be desired.
Such an aesthetic would also appeal to pretty broad audience, serving the game well on a longer term basis.
Yoshida himself is a short and very slender man (like a lot of japenese men). Does he look like a child? I also just googled up androgynous /feminie men and none of those very first pictures look like children for me. Seemingly a young Jonny Depp once counted as having feminine features too.

Yoshi-P made a statement explicitly stating that male viera will not be looking like children or young teenagers. He didn't say that for no reason, or because a few individuals were pushing for it to happen. He did so because there was a very troubling amount of people pushing for it earlier on. Naturally the more questionable posts, especially those with suggestive images, have since been deleted from this thread.I have been in this thread from the very start and I have yet to see the big amount of people that wanted them as children. It's one of those things that businesses are not going to bring up for no reason. He identified a troubling element within the FFXIV community and he spoke up to address it. Due to the naming and shaming rules in place I obviously can't point out the exact names of posters who were pushing for child-like viera who are now attempting to get for them to be as close to that aesthetic as possible.
As for what another poster stated in regards to LGBT matters...as a gay guy myself, personally I'd prefer to get some eye candy out of male viera in the form of a tall, classically handsome guy that is fairly well built without being super bulky. Feminine and androgynous men do nothing for me as an aesthetic.
Yes he stated that...yet being androgynous or more feminine (you dont have to be completely that way too.) is not being a child..Yoshi-P made a statement explicitly stating that male viera will not be looking like children or young teenagers. And yes for your aesthetic (and that is fine) but others might like something different. Maybe for them a handsome man is more on the androgynous side (I for example find Omega male very attractive minus the hair). That does not mean that they want children.
And young is not being a child..you still look young even if you are 20. James Franco seemingly counts as a more feminine man according to google. He looks like a (sexy) man and 100% not like a teenager or child.
Seemingly female Au Ra are not a problem? Honestly those often look like teeangers to me and I am playing one.
