Actually looking at the Adventurer's Appreciation Campaign, I think that can be comparable to the Mogtome event (since it just grants players bonuses for this and that). So in a way, that makes FFXI and XIV equal when it comes to events.

    FFXI's non-real life based events
    Blazing Buffalo's
    Summerfest
    Feast of Swords
    Adventurer's Appreciation

    FFXIV's non-real life based events:
    The Rising
    Moonfire Faire
    Make it Rain
    Mogtome Event

It's a shame but from what they've told us it was bound to happen. With the development schedule permanently shifted backwards by 1-2 months and them presumably not having begun their work on All Saints Wake, Starlight, etc, the normal development pace would drop All Saints Wake sometime in November/December, Starlight in January/February and so on. The only way they could stay on track for holiday events and actually keep them aligned with their real world counter parts is to cut one.

Real shame it had to be All Saints' Wake though.

It's a shame, but understandable. It's one of my favourite seasonal events, too.

I love Halloween (and by extension All Saints' Wake) so this is disappointing. I get it though, gotta keep things on track as much as possible considering how this year has been. Hopefully they can make it up to us next year.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Moonfire Fair has a spring break/summer beach party vibe for me. I'd give it half credit.

I don't think the Mogtome event (Moogle treasure trove) is meant to be something that's happening in world. It feels more like a promotional event like when mmos have bonus events (extra EXP, extra curency). If there is any lore behind it I'd like to know.

Yeah, the moogle tomes are primarily an out-of-universe promotion. A random moogle turned up and wants to trade with you. It's not an annual event.

I wouldn't consider Make It Rain a festival in the same way Starlight, the Rising, etc. are either, at least in terms of comparing whether the game has original vs real-world holidays. It's just a casino promotion.

I suspect the Make It Rain Campaign is inspired by Golden Week. Moonfire Faire could be pretty much any summer holiday festival, there are plenty of them around the world.

The Rising is FFXIV's yearly anniversary celebration. It's sorta real world based, in a meta way, just not to anyone who doesn't play the game.

Yeah, it's like when a store has an anual sale, but it is happening "in Universe".

That kind of ilustrates what was saying, any holiday you could come up with will probbaly have some similarity to a real life holiday, somewhere.

From what I understand in universe the Rising is a remmebrence of those that died during the calamity.

It's kinda hard to say. One year we reenacted the siege in Ul'dah from the last hours before the fall of Dalamud (even including the Great Goobue Wall at the gates), but another year we collected trash on the beach and found messages in bottles. In previous years we fought programming bugs and ran old-school mini-dungeons and other silliness. The only real unifying factor in Rising events is that the Wandering Minstrel is involved somehow.
